Chapter 10- Come out of your dark room.
Anamika's pov
Finally my work here in America is done. I am currently sitting in the living room with brother chang and
his husband Andrew, they are my only family.
" Why are you leaving so soon Sweetie...?"
He asked me while sipping his coffee.
"Yeah anna, you were so busy in work, we didn't get to spend much time together..."
Andrew said keeping his mobile aside.
"It's been 6 months brother, it's not soon and Andrew you were literally dragging me with you here and
there for shopping, movies, clubs and what not. How much more time do you want us to spend
together. Give your precious time to my brother not me and anyways I have to go back I have work to
do..."
I said.
"Okay your highness... you won.. but still I will miss you..."
Andrew said playfully pouting and I smiled at him, he is cute.
"Anna I want to talk about something important with you...."
Brother chang said cutting us between in his serious voice and I know what he wants to talk about, ohh
god can't he just drop that topic.
"Brother not now please..."
I said standing up whining.
"Sit down Anamika and hear me out, don't forget I am not only your brother, but your doctor too..."
he said in his authoritative tone and I know I can't run now. He only calls me Anamika when he
becomes serious.
I sunk down in my chair and Andrew gave me a sympathetic look.
"Anamika what are you planning to do in future... you can't stay like this forever ..."
His voice was hard but I could hear the concern in his voice too.
"I am fine brother...I am happy like this... I am doing good... You don't have to worry about me..."
"You are anything but happy Anamika. Tell when was the last time you laughed genuinely. Burying
yourself in work, books, paintings, locking yourself in the room instead of making friends and enjoying
your life, It's not life Sweetie. You have to let it go and move on... You think you won't tell me and act
like you are fine and I will trust you..."
I was listening each word of his with my head down. Andrew held my hands in a consoling manner.
"You need someone in your life Anamika. Someone who will love you, cherish you, hold you in his arms
when you need the most. You need to trust and try to love anna. You can't always run. You can't stay
alone forever...
I love you and care about you not like my sister but like my own daughter but I can't be with you
everytime, you need someone who will hold your hand for lifetime..."
After completing his rant he released a big defeated sigh and held my hand in his in a loving manner.
He knows everything about me. My each and every secret, my good and bad side, my weaknesses. I
am like an open book to him. I know he loves and cares for me and I do too, I owe him my life. If I am
alive today living like a human, it's just because of him, otherwise I would have been long gone.
"Are you getting me Sweetie... let it go, come out from your dark room and live your life... Whatever
happened is in the past now, and you are free, free from everything..."
He said trying hard to convince me.
"I know I am free brother... I know you are saying all this because you love me But you know I can't do
it. I am trying but I can't, I can't trust people. I am scared of love. I am scared of letting someone in. You
know what happened when I trusted them, loved them and what I got in return. You know right, you
know everything, then why are you telling me to do that again..."
My voice broke, my throat tightened and the tears were about to fall, I won't let them fall... no... I won't
cry I have cried enough, not anymore.
He let go my hands and rubbing his fingers on his temple he said.
"Look, Anamika I have given enough time for you to heal, and you did great. You fought for yourself
and won. You have everything now. You are smart , beautiful , successful, you have power, then what novelbin
are you so afraid off. I have given you seven years of solitude because you needed them but not now
Sweetie, not anymore... You will either find someone for yourself or I would have to take the matter in
my own hands and I am serious about it."
He said in his serious tone and I knew he'll do that soon, he is very stubborn.
"Chang take it easy buddy, you can't pressurize her like this..."
Andrew said looking at him..
"No Andrew it's enough now... she is wasting her life and I won't let that happen..."
He said and left the room, leaving me and Andrew with open mouths. He looks so serious, damn...
I have to do something about it, he will do it I know him very well.
I came out of my thoughts with the loud ringing of my phone. It's Mr. Scott, my secretary, he is the one
who is looking after my business in Italy. He is experienced and knows how to manage everything. He
is a big help to me and I respect him since he is so good at his work. I excused myself from Andrew
leaving the room and came out in balcony.
"Yes, Mr. Scott...?"
"Good morning Miss Sahay.."
"Good morning....what is it?"
"The investment we made 6 months ago, something went wrong and we lost the money. The damage
is 40 million dollars..."
"What happened exactly... any specific reason."
I asked him in a calm tone.
"We don't know exactly... but they are claiming it's because of the market conditions. I have fixed the
time of meeting it's coming Tuesday at 7 pm, other investors are joining us too. You have to attend the
meeting Miss Sahay..."
He said professionally.
" All right Mr. Scott, I am coming to Italy tomorrow anyways. It's still 4 days till the meeting, you know
what to do right...?"
"Yes, Miss Sahay... we are collecting each and every information about the firm, the activities and the
deals they made regarding investment and the person who is handling it. You will get all the files on
your desk when you get here, I assure you..."
He said, and that's what I like about him, he knows what to do, how to do and how we do our work.
"Thank you Mr. Scott. I'll attend the meeting, lets see what they are claiming and what's the actual
reality..."
I said smirking.
I packed all my luggage and brother chang and Andrew dropped me at the airport. They both kissed
my forehead and gave me tight goodbye hugs.
"Bye Sweetie, take care and call me if anything happens, I'll be there for you, ok?"
Brother chang said...
"Yes brother, I will and the same goes for you and Andrew. Bye guys love you..."
And that morning I flied back to Italy unknown to the new chapters waiting for me ahead in my life.
