Chapter 24 Sickle Gang and the Spy

Lam looked at Anton intently, according to his experience Anton did not lie, and Anton indeed did not

lie. Lowering his head and thinking for a moment, then Lam, who didn’t want to offend Anton for this,

gritted his teeth and said, “Fine! Since my brother likes her, then I have nothing to say. Just be careful,

Lam stared blankly at Anton for a second, then they burst into laughter together. The girl got up just

after Anton went out, hidden in the room, and overheard their conversation through a crack in the door,

knowing that the fat man with a broad face was going to give her away to that handsome young man.

She felt both happy and worried inside; she was happy that the young man didn’t look like a bad guy,

though not a good guy, but still better than the fat man. She was worried that she didn't know where

she would be taken to, and the place may be farther away from home, or she may be sold.

Countless thoughts rosing from her heart. The girl felt a mix of emotions.

Anton and Lam spoke for a while. Waiting until noon, Anton said goodbye to Lam. Lam also did not

keep him. Called a cab to send Anton back to H City along with the girl. Before leaving, Anton was told

by Lam to be careful again, and don’t let the girl escape, which made Anton so angry that he wanted to

kick his fat face, but he refrained the urge finally.

Arriving H City, Anton did not stop and asked the driver to drive him to J City directly. The driver knew

he was Lam’s friend, so drove him to J City directly without any delay. When they were near the Joy

Billiards Hall, Anton got off the car with the girl and send the driver back. As he didn't want Lam’s

people to know their gathering places here.

Anton hold the girl's hand and walked toward the Joy Billiards Hall, where gathered dozens of brothers

with worried looks discussing something. “Why are so many people here? Is something wrong?” Anton

had a bad feeling. He pushed the door open and asked loudly, “What are you doing here? What's

wrong?”

When they saw Anton, they gathered around him immediately, and one person said hastily, “Brother

Anton, bad things happened!”

Anton looked at him and ask, “What's it? Tell me clearly!”

All of them are trying to explain to him and Anton couldn’t get a clue in such a chaotic condition, so he

shouted, “Quiet!! Say it one by one. You tell me what's going on?” Anton pointed at the man who was

speaking, and the man wailed, “Brother Anton! Jasper has been cut up ... by 17 times and in the

hospital, Bruce was taken away by the police!”

Anton’s mind went blank at the news as if he was hit by thunder, he grabbed the man’s collar suddenly

and asked, “How about Carl? Where is Carl?”

The man was frightened by Anton’s reaction, saying in a shaking voice, “In.. In the Ghost!”

Anton let go of him, turned around, and was going to walk out when he suddenly noticed the girl beside

him looking at him. Anton released her hand and gave it to her brothers. Then he said, “locked her in

the inner room. Don’t touch her, and don’t let her escape!” They looked at the girl, and then looked at

Anton again, nodding dully.

Anton strides out of the Joy Billiards Hall, and then took a car to the Ghost. At the door, he saw a lot of

brothers standing outside and arguing. Anton was both anxious and angry. He only left for less than a

day. Then such big things happened, and they were in a mess. “Why are you all standing here?”

Hearing the sound, they all turn around. When they found it’s Anton, they all gathered around him as if

they have seen the savior. Anton, being anxious to see Carl, shouted, “where is Carl?” one person

answer loudly, “Carl is inside!” Anton pushed the crowd away and went inside. With all lights on, there

were no guests in club. Only more than 200 members standing in the venue and talking loudly. Carl,

Albert, and Patrick were on one side and discussed something. Anton shouted, “All of you, quiet!” In an

instant, the noise in the Club disappeared, and everyone's face was lit up at the sight of him. Carl and

others ran to Anton immediately, with eye sockets slightly red.

Carl came to Anton and gave himself two slaps first.” Brother Anton, it's all my fault! If I hadn't been

emotional, Jasper and Bruce would have been fine, you punish me!” After that, Carl kneeled on the

floor, lowered his head, and his tears came out.

Anton's mind was in turmoil, then he pulled Carl up and guided him to the single room, followed by

Albert and Patrick.

When they entered the room, Anton closed the door and asked, “Tell me what happened.

Carl told him everything. After several people, including Carl, sent Anton away, they were all down, so

Carl suggested they went to Ghost instead of going back to school, Jasper and others all agreed out of

depression. They never thought it was chaotic there. The brothers who stayed in the Ghosts were

mostly wounded, lying on the ground, and Lydia was so busy. so we asked them what happened

immediately. A brother who was still sober said that Sickle Gang came here to make trouble, beat all

it.

Jasper, who was in a bad mood, exploded at these words. So he took a knife and was going to fight

with Sickle Gang. Carl was intended to stop, but then he thought angrily that when did Anton

Brotherhood be bullied by others, so they asked Lydia if she knew anything about this gang. Lydia told

him that God nightclub, not far from Ghost, was looked after by Sickle Gang.

Carl heard that and laughed. Then he calls the Joy Billiards Hall immediately, telling them to notice

brothers, taking their weapons and meeting at Ghost. Less than half an hour, brothers in the Joy

Billiards Hall send fifty men here. Carl led them out, ready to get back at Sickle Gang. Albert felt the

action inappropriate, so he stopped Carl and told him to wait until Anton has returned. Carl listened but

did not accept his suggestion, and then Carl took people away.

Jasper and Bruce followed Carl to God nightclub. As Albert couldn't stop Carl, he had followed them as

well. They didn’t envision that there was nobody in there, Albert and Carl had a bad feeling almost

simultaneously, so they wanted to withdraw but it’s too late. There were dozens of young people with

knives rushing in from the inside rooms and from the outside to slash at us without hesitation. Our

brothers were caught off guard, and several people were cut, falling down instantly. Led by Carl, the

brothers fought fiercely, and finally got out of God nightclub, but Jasper and Bruce were still trapped

inside. When Carl was intended to fight back and save them, a distant wail of sirens came from. Albert

dragged Carl out of the scene by force, along with other brothers. While inside the hall, Jasper kept

Bruce in the inside room with his body blocking against the door. When the police arrived, Jasper

suffered a total of seventeen heavy slashes, which had reached the bone. He was unconscious when

he was sent to a downtown hospital by police. A man of Sickle Gang told the police that we came into

rob and they were forced to fight back. He had a relationship with the captain, so the police took Bruce

away without a word. Bruce took all the blame at the police station but the police didn’t buy it and

tortured him by all means, but Bruce didn’t reveal anything.

In this fight, 20 members were wounded and hospitalized, and ten were taken away by police. The

life of the seriously wounded Jasper was at stake, and Bruce was arrested. Two out of five leaders in

the club had gone, which was a stunning defeat.

After Anton had heard the full story, he took a long breath, and closed his eyes, leaning on the sofa for

a long time without speaking. The other three people standing beside Anton were so nervous that they

wouldn't say boo to a goose. Anton, trying hard to control his emotions, kept saying to himself, “Calm

down! Calm down!” Then he thought over Carl’s words. After a while, Anton opened his eyes, his cold

gaze sweeping through the three people, and said, “There is a mole in the club!”

A shiver rippled over Carl. He would rather be punished than hearing this. They were like families in the

club, and he regarded every member as his own brother, so who would betray the club? Anton's words

were like a sharp knife piercing through Carl’s heart.

Anton continued, ““Brother Albert, you go to withdraw 100,000 euros for me and find out the address of

the police chief. I am going to see Jasper now! All of you, don’t follow me!” Then Anton shot a glance at

the three people and sighed. When he walked to the door, Anton stopped and turned to Carl. “You don't

have to blame yourself. I would have made the same choice as you did if I were there!” Getting

down on his knees, Carl, who was as strong as iron, burst into tears “Brother Anton!”. The other two

people are also in tears.

“We need to have a lesson of failure! But I will never let go of my enemies! You have to be strong!”

Anton shouted and walked out of the room. After he come out, the brothers outside observed that

Anton was in a bad mood, so they all remained silent and gave way to him automatically. When Anton

walked out of the Ghost, he uttered long wheezing cries in the open air, giving full vent to his anger,

then took the car to the central hospital immediately.

After arriving, Anton inquired about Jasper's ward, which was 302. Then he ran toward it quickly. This

ward was an intensive care unit, and the patients in it were not out of danger. As there was no police

guard at the door, Anton was just about to enter, when a nurse stopped him.” Hey! Don't you know this

ward is not allowed to visit? Move out of the way, please!”

Anton ignored her, pushed the door, and walked in. The nurse grabbed his clothes and scold, “what's

wrong with you? I told you, you can't go in here! What’s your problem?”

Seeing Jasper covered in gauze all over and lying in bed with a pale face, Anton felt his heart was torn

apart abruptly. Anton, with his red eyes, stared at the nurse who grabbed his clothes. The nurse,

frightened by the look of Anton, stood motionless and loosened her grip involuntarily. Anton came to

the bed quickly, grabbed Jasper's hand, and called his name softly, “Jasper! Jasper!.”

Jasper heard his voice, opened his eyes slowly, stared straight ahead, groped around blindly with his

hand inserted with a needle.” Are you... Are you Anton?”

Anton looked at Jasper in amazement and reached out to wave in front of his eyes, but Jasper's eyes

did not blink. 'is he blind?'' Anton cried in his heart. He couldn’t hold back his tears anymore, which

dropped on the white sheets.

Jasper's hands fumbled in the air and ask faintly, “Are you Anton? Are you really Brother Anton?”

Anton grabbed Jasper's hand, put it on his face, and choked out, “It's me! I am here to see you!”

“Brother Anton, you're back! Great. I was still worried about the club!”

“Don’t worry about it, it's OK!”

Jasper managed to force a smile, “Brother Anton, I thought I'd never see you again. I'm so glad that

you could come!” “Brother Anton, why is your face wet? Are you crying? I'm fine, don't worry about me.”

“Lying in bed, I don’t know why. I kept thinking about the days with you whenever I closed my eyes.

That's my happiest time, inside and out.” “I miss the Bruce. Why didn't he come?” “Brother Anton, is the

world quieter without me by your side?”

Anton listened to Jasper quietly and attentively. The pain in his heart was beyond words. he would

rather be the one lying in bed than Jasper. Before his eyes had risen by pastime with Jasper. Is this

happy chubby boy who was around me all day long going to leave me? Anton could not and would not

accept it. Holding Jasper's hand, Anton said softly, “Jasper, you will be fine. We are to conquer the

world! This is what you have promised. Men should keep their words! Didn't you always listen to me, I

commanded you not to leave me!”

Jasper wanted to smile at Anton, but he did not have the strength. Feeling tired, he slowly closed his

eyes, a tear coming out of the corner of his eyes.

Anton did not release Jasper's hand, just sitting there silently.

“Boredom seeing hesitation, reaching ideal is not easy, even if with confidence, fighting will is

restrained, who decides my leaving and stay, determines my inner universe…Anton hummed the song

“Not hesitant” by BEYOND “gently. This is also the favorite song of Jasper, Anton, Bruce, and other

brothers.

Anton kept singing the song, slowly and gently, until the nurse who had been standing at the door

walked toward Anton and said quietly, “Your friend has fallen asleep. Don't disturb him. Let him rest for

a while. I'm sure he'll get better!” The nurse had witnessed everything and she was moved by their

friendship, so her attitude towards Anton was much better.

The voice of the nurse dragged Anton out of his memory, then he found his clothes were wet by his

own tears. Anton smiled at the nurse and stood up, “I apologize to you for what happened just now.

Can you tell me what happened to my friend's eyes?”

The nurse said, “That's the complication of excessive hemorrhage! It'll be all right in a while!”

Hearing that, Anton felt slightly relieved and said thank you to the nurse. Then he took an attentive look

at Jasper and stepped out of the ward. Looking at Anton's back, the nurse added a sentence in the

heart, “if he could still be alive in a while”! But she didn't say that to him. Seeing his look, she didn't

want to burden him more.

Walking on the bustling streets, Jasper's pale faces reappeared in Anton’s mind from time to time. It’s

the first time he doubted the path he had chosen. No matter how successful they might be, the path

they chose is still a dark one, which you could never see the light. It’s Jasper lying in the hospital today,

tomorrow it could be Carl, or Bruce, or perhaps myself. Life is never guaranteed on this path. Is it really

worthwhile for your brother to risk his life for the sake of your own ideals? Anton had no answer and no

one would tell him. he can only find out by himself.
