Why would The Alpha King visit our pack?

I've heard about him only through the stories my parents, Karl and his parents told me.

After every twenty five years a meeting was held where all the Alphas and the betas from around the world come together along with their wives to meet the king, The King of Werewolves.

No one knew his name nor did he allow anyone to address him with his name other than King or Alpha King.

People say he's the oldest werewolf to exist in this world, and that he might have lived for over two centuries or more, no one knew for sure.

They say he’s ruthless, dangerous, heartless and merciless.

He had never visited our pack before and though my parents talked a great deal about him, they've never really seen him or was in the same place as him.

The tales of his great strength and capabilities was new to anyone and were passed on from one to the other.

That's how his great achievements and tales of his heartless expedition were known by every werewolf in existence. novelbin

"So It's good, right? The king visiting us?"

I questioned not really understanding her reaction to the news of his arrival.

We should feel honoured that The King was visiting our pack, shouldn't we? "You don't understand Meryl"

Aunt Maria shook her head at me.

"Oh. Was all i said, still confused. There were many things I wasn't aware of or was told about but I wasn't curious nor keen on learning about that.

Karl sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose as he exhaled loudly.

I kept my mouth shut not asking anything further nor did they look like they would explain anything to me and was I curious.

"Gerard called Matthew a few minutes ago to let him know about the King's arrival. He will be here tomorrow at around five in the morning"

Aunt Maria started to say.

" He'll probably stay till noon. We have started the preparation for his arrival but we don't have much time left. What are we gonna do? We should-"

Aunt Maria rambled as she started to panic.

"Mom."

Karl raised his voice to make her look at him and stop rambling, he succeeded.

Karl was calm unlike his mother.

How can he be so calm when his mother was is stressing over the news of the Alpha King's arrival? "I'm sorry. I'm just so nervous and anxious about his arrival"

She smiled apologetically.

"It's okay mom. Where is dad?"

"He's in the pack hall preparing for The King's arrival."

"What about the pack ground? We won't use that?"

I questioned confused yet curious at the same time with what she said.

As far as I was concern, whenever we have a meeting in our pack or some Alpha visits our pack, the meeting or the welcoming party is held at the pack grounds and not the hall.

"We are preparing that too"

She sighed, looking tired and seemed like she aged a few years.

"We don't want to take any chances, the weather might not be in our favour or something might happen so we want to be well prepared when he arrives"

She explained when she saw my confused faced.

I nodded my head in understanding, she was right we can't take any chances, it was Alpha King who's visiting our pack.

"That means we should go and help, right?"

I directed my question at Aunt Maria.

"Yeah we should that's why I came here"

She nodded her head and smiled a little which made her look younger.

"Okay then. Let's go"

I said motioning towards the door and walking towards it.

"Where do you think you are going?"

Karl grabbed the back of my shirt and pulled me back to my previous position.

"Umm.. To help"

I said in a duh tone to which he rolled his eyes.

"You are not coming with us, you will stay here.

I'll sent Daisy here to accompany you"

"But-"

I started to protest but Aunt Maria cut me off.

"He’s right Meryl. Stay here as your father had specifically told us not to let you out of the house unless it's absolutely necessary. So you will stay here"

She said cupping my face and kissing my forehead lovinaly.

I sighed in defeat knowing I can't argue with her about it because it was dad's order, and she was simply following it.

"Okay, I'll stay here but promise me that.."

I offered her my pinky finger to link.

*.. you will call me if you need my help"

"Okay, Meryl, I promise"

Aunt Maria chuckled, linking her pinky with mine and t let Karl do the same who looked amused.

He was about to say something but the door bell went off stopping him from whatever he was about to say.

"Daisy the door is open, you can come in"

Kyle rolled his eyes at his sister-in-law who was very much pregnant with a protruding belly inside which was a tiny, little three months old pup.

Yep, she was pregnant with Derek's baby, Karl's older brother and would deliver the baby after two months as werewolves genes allow the baby to grow faster in comparison to the humans.

"I know but I was just being polite"

She scowled at her brother-in-law who had an amused smile on his face.

* "I think I'll have to sleep here today"

Daisy said walking into the sitting room with a bowl of popcorns in her hands.

Karl had texted me an hour ago, letting me know he couldn't come and Daisy "Didn't you go there to talk with Derek?"

I arched a brow at the bowl in her hands and pointed towards the direction of the kitchen where she had disappeared to talk with her mate, Derek when he called on her cell phone.

"Yeah but I saw the popcorns after I ended the call so..."

She shrugged plopping beside me on the couch.

I nodded my head slowly.

"And why did he call you when he can just mind linked you?"

I asked her curiously.

"Well, he doesn't want others to hear our conversation"

She whispered blushing.

"Okay"

I said not understanding what she meant by that.

She burst out laughing when she realised I have not understood what she meant by that.

"Can't mates block others from listening in to their conversation?"

I asked her curiously after she sobered up.

"Yes we can but it takes five months until we can do that and it's only four months since Derek and I met."

She explained with a small smile and rubbed her belly lovingly.

Unknowingly a smile formed on my lips as I looked down at her swollen belly.

I wish to be there, with her when the baby is born so i could hold the tiny life in my arms.

Daisy chuckled suddenly which made me look away from her belly to her face.

"What?" I cocked my head to the side.

"You don't know anything about mate?" She asked but it was more of a statement.

"I know a little" My mother tells me about mates if i asked her or have any question regarding mates.

She nodded her head smiling softly at my words.

"Let's watch the movie" She pressed the play button and we went back to watching the vow followed by the notebook then the lost valentine.

Her taste in movie was similar to mine.

"I wonder why The King is visiting our pack" She mumbled out of the blue staring at the blank TV screen.

"Hmm." I mumbled back thinking about what she said.

"Oh! Look at the time, it's already 10:30 thirty, we should sleep" She gasped looking at the clock placed over the tv, I nodded my head in agreement.

"We should" She stood up slowly and I helped her to her room.

"Good night Meryl" She said standing at the door of the room that Karl was sleeping in for a week where she would be sleeping today.

"Good night Daisy" I whispered with a smile as we both entered our rooms.

I climbed on my bed and hugged Mr. Fluffy but sleep didn't come to me anytime soon as my mind was filled with questions, questions about The King and and his sudden visit.

My phone pinged signalling a text and I knew who the text was from because there was only a handful of person who text or calls me, I quickly opened the text and read it.

Good night Princess, I’m sorry I'm texting you so late but I had some things to take care of. We'll be back tomorrow morning. Take care and we love you. -Dad I quickly typed a reply back, Good night.
