Chapter 6

Xerxes’ Pov

I felt some movement beside me which woke me up.

I opened my eyes slowly and look towards the source of the movement and found my mate sleeping soundly with her head on my chest.

She mumbled something in her sleep, her one arm was around my torso as she hugged me tighter.

I slowly and tentatively pushed the lock of hair that was blocking her face, she looks so innocent and i took the time to stare at her.

She was beautiful, the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my entire existence.

Her bright blue doe eyes filled with innocence, her tiny frame fits with my large ones perfectly, her long brown locks that cascade down her back effortlessly and her angelic voice.

She was perfect in everyway.

‘That will cost you, your heart and your empire’ These words rang in my ears making me pulled back from her almost instantly.

I got off the bed shaking my head in the process.

I can't be careless or weak now.

She stirred at little from my abrupt movement but didn't woke up, she stretch her arms and when her hand met with my pillow she pulled it towards her and hugged it.

She released a content sigh when she sniff the pillow.

My lips twitched and it threatened to break into a smile but I held myself back. novelbin

I can't let her do this to me.

She won't be be able to make me weak.

She might be my mate but that is it, I wouldn't let her bring me or my pack down.

And in order to do that, I have to be hard and cold towards her.

I didn't even want to bring her here in the first place but my wolf got the best of me.

I looked at the clock that was hang up on the wall, it was showing 5:00 am.

I walked towards the bathroom to do my business.

I walked out of the bathroom to find my mate still sleeping peacefully, her lips in a cute pout that I so want to kiss, lick and bite but not now.

I walk towards my walk in closet and saw half of it's side empty where her clothes will be hanged and kept.

Julie better be here soon with her stuffs or else she won't like the consequences.

I walked towards my side of the closet and took out a black suit to wear.

I've got a couple meetings to attend today but first I had a thing to do.

I gave my sleeping mate one last look before I exited my room and towards my office to make a call.

I stayed on my office for a couple of hours, working on my computer.

There was a knock on my door and I instantly knew it was Damien because if his scent and also because I had given him a task to do.

"Came in"

I said without looking up from my computer.

I heard the door opening and closing shut followed by footsteps.

He stopped a couple of inches away from my table.

"Sit."

He took a seat and started speaking.

"I've talked with Mrs.

Morris, at first she was hesitant as new admission after a few months of it's opening is not possible but when I said you had ordered it and who the new person is they were more then happy for it"

Damien filled me in as I nodded my head slowly.

"Okay.You may go."

I said still not looking up from my computer.

He nodded his head and stood up to walk out of my office.

He took a couple of steps towards the door but stopped and turned around to face me.

"Um...and Meryl wanted you down for breakfast, King"

His words made me look up at him in an instant.

My hard glare which was directed at him making him flinch back in fear.

"Meryl?"

I growled out in anger.

How dare he call her by her name? His eyes widen in realisation at his mistake and he bowed his head down.

"I'm sorry Alpha King.It wouldn't be repeated again."

He stated with his head still bowed down in submission.

"Out."

I barked at him in anger as I felt annoyed by the reaction she have on others.

I can tell by looking at Damien that he had taken a liking in her though he wouldn't dare try anything or think wrongly about her but it still didn't settle well with me.

Damien was the closest to me other than Lucas, my brother but he knows when he had cross the limit and when to not cross the line.

I don’t treat him like a friend but he knows that he is the one closest to me in this pack.

I walked out of my office to find my mate.

I heard laughing and talking when I neared the kitchen.

It was Damien and my mate, she was laughing at something he had said while he was smiling looking at her.

My hands curled into a fist looking at them, my wolf itched to come out and snap Damien's neck but I refrain myself from doing that.

It's being hardly two days with her being here but I could feel the bond getting stronger which means it would be harder to resist her than I thought.

No, I won't let a girl be the reason for my downfall, I won't and I'll do whatever it takes to keep it that way.

I won't let her presence effect me.

I won't let her effect me and, I won't let her be the end of me.
