Chapter 8- Lucas

Chapter 8- Lucas

It’s been almost a week since we came to Greycoast. The week at school had been quite eventful to

say the least.

That girl, Arabella, she feels different. There is something familiar and captivating about her. She has

been the constant topic of our conversation these couple days.

“Do you think she is a part of a pack?” Archer asked from beside me.

We are camped beside a river today and Hudson is taking his time with bathing in the river.

“Maybe.”

“That alpha was right then. There is a pack here.”

I hummed.

We were a fairly decent pack a month ago but the attack killed the rest as we weren’t shifted and our

parents were killed protecting us. We were told to flee and we did. Only the children but they caught up.

Only three of us survived. All thanks to that Alpha.

A wolf spirit came to help us and killed the majority of the attackers. The rest of them fled. He told us to

come here and find the spirit walker. That’s what we are trying to do so far but we didn’t have any luck

yet. Since then we have been living in these woods, changing our camps daily and covering our tracks.

It’s hard living like this.

The Alpha hadn’t come here yet either. He said he will come soon but there is no sign of him till this

day. It’s been almost a month now.

It’s Saturday today. I am glad the week ended. We at least have a little time to relax.

Between hunting and looking over our backs, school was an additional hazard but we need to go to

school. Our parents wouldn’t have liked it if we had flunked our education.

“Where did Hudson go?” Archer said, panic clearly visible on his face.

He got up to his feet looking around. Shit! Where did he go? Did they take him?

We looked near the river but couldn’t find him.

“Guys look what I found.” Hudson’s voice came from behind us as he came running out.

“You moron. We thought someone took you.” I bellowed.

“Sorry about that. I saw a silhouette of something from the river so I went to check it. You wouldn’t

believe what I found. Come on. Follow me.”

He ran back in the forest as we followed him. We came into a clearing and stopped looking at the little

cabin there.

“There is a cabin here.” He announced proudly.

The cabin was fairly small but still looked livable from the outside.

What if someone already lives there?

“We can stay here till anyone comes here.” Hudson said grinning.

“What if someone is living there?” Archer asked voicing my exact thoughts.

“I don’t think anyone had lived here for a while. There isn’t much stuff inside.”

“You went inside alone?” I snapped.

“Yup.”

What am I going to do with this one? He is always so careless.

“What if you would have got caught?”

“I didn’t so let’s get inside. I haven’t slept on a bed for a while. We can cook those rabbits on the stove

too.” Hudson said excitedly.

Those things did sound inviting after travelling so far and living in the jungle. I buried my conscience

and entered the cabin. We can always run when the owner comes back.

It was quite nice inside. There was little to no dust. It didn’t look that small on the inside.

“The bathing products are of a female.” Archer said from the bathroom.

Why would a female live here in the middle of the jungle?

“Do you think this is where that spirit walker lives?” Archer asked seriously while Hudson bounced on novelbin

the bed.

“We don’t have any way of knowing that. We don’t even know if the spirit walker is a female or a male.”

He nodded. “Let’s just relax for the time being. We will have to leave once the owner comes back.”

I went outside to clean the rabbits but was startled when I heard someone muttering angrily in the

woods. I got up to look around. The voice was coming closer and the person sounded angry.

A short petite figure broke out of the tree line, stomping her feet in anger. She didn’t seem to notice me

standing there I think as she kept up with her angry rant.

But why is she here?

“Aria?”
