He left the hospital. While sitting in the car, Jalen was still thinking about what Marie had asked him.

Why?

He couldn’t answer.

He thought perhaps he was just curious about the woman’s attitude and wanted to find out more.

His phone suddenly rang, dragging him back from his deep thoughts. He rubbed his eyebrows in frustration and picked up the phone. “Say it.”

“Mr. Halton, I checked your schedule for the past five years. And I found there are no crossing places between you and Dr. Gainsford.

“But the strange thing is that Dr. Gainsford disappeared two years ago. No one knows where she went, so it is difficult to find the places she has ever been to in the past two years.

“Do we need to ask Mr. Krause to help investigate?”

Quincy Krause was the king of the underworld. He might be able to find something that could not be found by common methods, so Graham suggested this.

After a long silence, just as Graham thought that Jalen would agree, he heard Jalen say, “No. She is just a doctor. There is no need to pay too much attention to her.”

Graham was surprised that Jalen gave it up.

A few days later, Marie was discharged from the hospital. Elaina personally handled the discharge

formalities for her.

“Although the lesion has been successfully removed, there is still a possibility of relapse. So remember to go to the hospital regularly for a check-up and keep a healthy lifestyle.” At the entrance of the hospital, Elaina reminded her again.

“Got it.” Marie nodded. “Thank you, Dr. Gainsford.”

“How are you going back? By taxi?” Elaina was surprised that no one came to pick her up.

She hadn’t seen Jalen for several days. She thought that he would come when Marie was discharged today.

Unexpectedly, he didn’t show up. For a moment, she really wondered if he cared about Marie or not.

As soon as she said that, Marie pointed to the car not far away and said, “Jalen is here to pick me up.

Hearing this, Elaina also looked over.

The car stopped beside them. Jalen got out of the car. They had not seen each other for a few days, but he kept a cold face without showing any emotion.

“Are you done?” He spoke and looked at Marie.

“Well, thanks to Dr. Gainsford, she helped me do it,” Marie answered, looking at Jalen and Dr. Gainsford in

turn.

Marie remembered the question she asked Jalen a few days ago. He did not answer at that time, but Marie had that feeling.

However, now, she felt that Jalen seemed to have no interest in Elaina. Marie thought maybe she was wrong.

Jalen opened the car door and said to her, “Let’s go.”

“Okay.” Marie nodded. “Goodbye, Dr. Gainsford.”

“Bye, hope we don’t meet again.” Elaina smiled and waved her hand. After all, she was a doctor. It was not good news to see her again.

Unfortunately, Jalen did not understand that. He thought that Elaina was saying this to him, and his face immediately darkened.

Marie got in the car. Jalen walked to the driver’s seat without hesitation. From beginning to end, he did not say a word to Elaina. He did not even give her a look.

Elaina did not care. This was the attitude that Jalen should have towards her. He was Mr. Halton, an influential figure, who should not pay any attention to her, a nobody.

In the car that was away from the hospital, Marie looked at Jalen who was driving in the front several times. She found Jalen seemed to be in a bad mood, though she didn’t make sure about it.

“Jalen, don’t take what I said before to heart. I was just saying it casually,” She could not help but explain.

Jalen nodded and continued driving.

Not long after, Jalen sent Marie home. “Have a good rest. Call me if you feel uncomfortable.”

“Jalen, are you going to work?” She was very disappointed. She thought that he would stay with her.

“Yes, there are a lot of things to do in the company.” He nodded without saying one more word. He turned novelbin

around and got into the car. Then he disappeared from Marie’s sight.

Marie looked in the direction where the car left. She bit her lips, her eyes full of unwillingness.

But soon, she held back this emotion.

She had to take good care of her health. There would be plenty of opportunities in the future. She needed to

be patient.

At Kemp Apartment.

Elaina looked at Jenica who was taking a suitcase in front of her. Elaina was surprised. “You ran away from home again?”

“Ah. Bingo.” Jenica laughed and carried her luggage into the living room.

“What’s the reason this time?” Elaina closed the door and asked casually.

“He didn’t buy me the newest purse and even asked me to go to work at the company. I can’t stand it.” As she spoke, she directly chose a room with her luggage.

The reason surprised Elaina. “Weren’t you traveling abroad? When did you come back?”

When she finished her words, Jenica leaned in front of her and said solemnly, “I heard that you were divorced, so I rushed back.”

“Let’s go eat. I was starving.” She pulled Elaina out of the apartment and was ready to go to a restaurant.

After Elaina briefly explained the matter, Jenica looked at her as if she was looking at a fool. “Aren’t you too nice to Jalen that bastard? You didn’t ask for anything!

“Let me tell you, you should take great advantage of him. You can’t let him off too easily.

“I have long disliked him. If he were not Jalen, I would have beaten him up for you.”

When they were waiting for the elevator, Jenica said a bunch of things.

She was angry and her voice was very loud. She didn’t even notice that someone was walking behind them.

“Jalen, that jerk! Go hit him to vent your anger.” She felt sad for Elaina, especially when she thought that Elaina had divorced without taking anything.

“Is that so? Then come. Let me see your ability.”

They heard a cold voice from behind. Elaina and Jenica were shocked and turned their heads in disbelief.
