Chapter 19- Amara

Before we could go any further, Asher came out of his house fuming with his parents’ right behind him.

Caleb and Carter pushed me behind them and growled at him in warning. I quickly wiped my face of

the wetness with the back of my hand. Asher didn’t like that at all. He growled back more viciously. I

can see Caleb and Carter struggling to not bow their head to him. He is third in command after all.

“GET OUT OF MY WAY.” Asher shouted.

He seemed to be on the verge of shifting.

“HAVE YOU NOT DONE ENOUGH DAMAGE THAT YOU WANT TO HURT HER MORE?” Caleb

retorted back blocking me out of Asher’s view.

I don’t know what happened next but within a second I heard the noise of clothes tearing and then

Caleb and Carter were on the ground with claw marks on their chest. They curled on the ground,

groaning from the pain with blood oozing out of their wounds on their chest. I looked up to find a very

angry and snarling Asher in his wolf form. What the hell is he thinking hurting his own pack members? I

ignored him and sat on my haunches to check the twins. Asher growled at… I don’t know who but I

didn’t pay any attention to him. The gashes were too deep. The twins were losing too much blood. Why

hasn’t their healing process kicked in? I heard another vicious growl from Asher and looked up at him

in disgust and anger. Ryder was right. He is a good for nothing piece of shit. How could he do this to

them?

“How dare you?” I asked Asher standing up and moving in front of the twins in case he decides to

attack again. “HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR OWN PACK MEMBERS?”

His reply… well he just snarled and lunged at me but before he could reach me a golden brown wolf

tackled him to the ground and dug his teeth in his throat a little in warning. Asher still tried to buck Leo

off of him but whimpered and showed his neck in submission when Leo dug his claw in his stomach a

little. My heart was beating so fast that it felt like it will explode in my chest.

‘Shift’ I heard Leo’s voice in the mind link.

Asher shifted under him and laid there still with Leo’s wolf on top of him. He had blood on his neck and

stomach. Stanley threw Asher and Leo a pair of shorts each, all the while glaring at Asher after Leo

moved away a little from Asher a little and shifted. I didn’t want this to happen. Shit! I looked around to

find Mathew and Ryan looking at the scene in horror. When did they come out? Asher silently wore his

shorts and sat down on the ground in a kneeling position with his head down.

“What’s going on over here?” Leo asked.

The twins whimpered from behind me. I turned around to check them. They weren’t healing fast

enough.

“Leo they are hurt.” I said turning my head towards him. “They aren’t healing fast.”

Leo came beside me and checked the twins. He grimaced. Is it that serious?

“Those claw marks are really deep and they are losing too much blood.” Leo said in solemn tone.

“What happened here? Looking at you, I can take my guesses but I want to hear it from you.”

“I will tell you about it later. We need to take care of them first.” I said anxiously. “I think I should speed

the healing process.”

“NO” Came three replies from the twins and Leo.

“You won’t be healing them.” Leo said with a serious tone. “I can see you are healing yourself Amy. I

can’t let you do that. That will cost serious damage to you. You need whatever life source left in you to

heal yourself and stay alive till you are completely recovered.”

“Fine. Maybe we can stop the bleeding with something.” I suggested.

I know he is saying the truth. I don’t have enough strength in me to heal others and keep myself

breathing at the same time. Ryan brought towels and we pressed their wounds to stop the bleeding.

After some time the bleeding stopped a little and the healing process kicked in. The twins’ parents

came out running out of their house to see their sons and slumped down near their heads. The

bleeding had stopped completely when the twins passed out making me squeak in fright.

“Relax. They are fine.” Stan said from Leo’s other side.

“Now tell us what happened.” Leo said narrowing his eyes at me. “And don’t you dare to lie because I

got the basic idea of what’s going on after I saw you.”

“Well… umm… on the day of Asher’s birthday, I felt weird like really sad and empty. I was feeling really

weak and sharp pains in my chest. At first I ignored it but when Aaron woke me up in the evening, I

was feeling really out of it. The pains had become sharper and I was starting to feel dizzy.” I looked up

them to find everyone looking at me in horror, even Caleb and Carter’s parents. Asher’s face on the

other hand looked blank. I shook the dreadful feeling away. I have to survive for papa.

“We cancelled our plan to go out and decided to watch movies at our apartment instead. Halfway

through the movie Aaron went to the washroom and the pizza guy arrived. So I got up to take the

delivery from downstairs but the dizziness worsened. I slowly made my way down and took the pizza

from the guy. I was making my way upstairs when the chest pains got worse. I somehow made my way

upstairs but as soon as I got their I felt a pain so severe that I screamed and fortunately my neighbor

heard me. I crawled to his door and knocked on it thinking it’s my apartment but before I could say or

do anything I passed out. I was in a coma for three days.” The twins’ mother gasped.

“Before I woke up, Papa contacted me in my comatose state. He said I need to come home as he was

dying and he wanted to see me one last time.” I chocked out. “My land lady helped me throughout

these three days and she felt papa’s presence when he came to me. Papa somehow healed me and I

woke up. She said if the episode happened one more time, I will die.” I saw Asher’s eyes widen from

the corner of my eye. Leo growled, clenching his fist. “Cassidy said she wasn’t even sure that I would

make it the first time but papa helped me. She knew if I had a chance to survive she would have to talk

to papa and convince him… convince…him to heal me but that would result in him dying that very

moment.” I lied. I will tell this only to Leo afterwards. Caleb and Carter already knows about it but I

know they will keep the secret if asked them to.

“She and Grayson, her husband came here with me but I wasn’t sure about taking total strangers to the

cabin so I went there alone last night. I was talking to papa when a pain beyond comparison hit me. I

don’t know what happened afterwards as I was in and out of conscious. I woke up next morning that is

today morning and felt different. I still felt weak but I felt better. There was this warm feeling inside me. I

asked the others about what happened. They told me the poison has stopped spreading but papa was

gone.” A tear fell on my back of my palm and then other. “I didn’t get to talk to him one last time. After

that Cassidy and Grayson explained to me what was happening to me. She had told me before coming

here that my mate was cheating on me but I didn’t believe her then but I knew it was the truth. She told

me to go see him one last time so I will be able to move on after I saw everything with my own eyes

and confronted him. Ryder wanted to come with us but I stopped him. He would have killed Asher.

Caleb and Carter came with me and were waiting outside. I came out of Asher’s house after seeing

him with the girl lying naked in his bed. I talked to him but he got a little aggressive. I bucked him off…

well more like ordered them to submission and came out. Caleb, Carter and I were coming to your

house when Asher stopped us. He looked ready to attack. The twins shielded me but before anyone

could do anything Asher shifted and clawed them. He was about to attack me when you stopped him.” novelbin
