Chapter 24- Amara

I stepped away from Xander and poked my tongue at Ryder. Xander looked reluctant to let go. He still novelbin

stood really close to me. I am sensing a huge trouble. Ryder looked to be on a full tantrum throwing

mode and so did Xander. They are similar in more ways than one. God help me please. To my surprise

though, Ryder sighed and shook his head.

“Close your mouth Amy.” Ryder said amused.

I didn’t knew my mouth was hanging open.

“Is my big brother growing up finally?” I teased.

Ryder replied me with a hard glare. I full on laughed in his face.

“So am I allowed to hug her papa?” Xander asked Ryder innocently.

“Sure.” Ryder more like snarled making Xander flinch.

“Ryder what the hell?” I asked annoyed of his behavior.

Well we are getting somewhere aren’t we?

“Son you can hug your aunt.” He said frowning.

Aunt? Oh lord! I am too young for that. Ryder on the other hand looked like someone asked him to

share his favorite candy. Eww! That sounded gross.

“Come here.” I ordered Ryder with my arms open which he complied and pulled me to the ground like

earlier in the morning.

He must be going through an emotional turmoil at the moment. He must be having a hard time

adjusting to everything. Usually the previous Alpha is there to guide the new Alpha but because of me

he has to go through this alone. I feel guilty for taking that away from him. I buried my face deeper into

his neck. Papa I wish you were here. I miss you so much. We mish you so much.

I gasped due to the sudden feeling that coursed through me. It felt like something alive moved in me. I

sat up. It wasn’t a bad feeling. Ryder looked at me worried. I felt a warmth spread to my arms till fingers

and legs to toes. Slowly it spread to my entire body. I was emitting a golden glow. I looked at Ryder to

find him dumbfoundedly looking at me with aww. Xander stood beside his father and was looking at me

with wide eyes. Though this was strange to happen in the first place, I felt safe. What is going on with

me?

Suddenly a voice rang in my head. A very familiar voice at that. Looking at Ryder and Xander’s

shocked expressions, I can tell they were hearing it too.

“Hello my pups.”

“Papa” Ryder and I said at the same time.

“Hmm”

“But how?” I asked.

The golden glow was still surrounding me.

“You made it possible child. You are stronger than you think. It took a lot of energy out of me at first but

I eventually recovered enough to have a little chat with my family. You seem a little broken son.” Papa

said in a sad voice.

“It’s just the new emotions papa. Nothing else. I don’t think I was ready to be an Alpha yet.” Ryder said.

“You are ready as you will ever be. You were born for this. Don’t doubt yourself. I was going to die

anyways but now because of our little princess I can stay with you pups longer. Treat Xander better

Ryder. He is your son. He won’t take Amy away from you. She is his family as well. I know with the

recent incident you feel more protective towards her but you need to understand, she won’t be here all

the time. She lost her mate but that doesn’t mean she won’t have anyone in the future.” Like I would.

“Yes would young lady. That bastard is not the end of the world.” I nodded half-heartedly. “Xander give

your father some time. He will come around.”

“Yes grandpa.” Xander said wagging his tail.

I cooed at him. Xander hid his face in his paws with his bum sticking out, his tail still wagging. He is so

adorable. I hope I get to spend more time with him. Ryder huffed and sat with his head on his paws.

“Stop sulking Ryder.” I said laughing at him.

He just huffed at me.

“Well I will take my leave for now. I need to rest. If you need me, I will be right here.”

With that being said papa retreated to… where? Well he went silent after that and the glow around me

retreated inside me. I felt much better though. Atleast I know that papa is not going to die. He will be

here when we need him. Maybe I will be able to shift sooner than later.

After that Ryder took me back to the cabin. Apparently Xander can’t come out of that place till he is an

adult, which won’t take much time as he is already this big in just about seven months. Cassidy was

shocked seeing me all healthy. I bid Ryder goodbye and the three of us made our way back to Alec’s

apartment. Fortunately Alec was back to his place accompanied with Caleb and Carter. I made a call to

the Knights and met them at their place. They were not happy to know about what Asher did.

Especially Alex and Oliver. I made them promise not to do anything about it as I had already taken care

of the situation and they reluctantly agreed.

It’s been a month since we came back to Berkeley. Everything is going pretty well. I have gotten a very

angry call from my parents about not telling me about the whole incident. Alec had ratted me out to

them. They had demanded me to come home in the Christmas holidays. Steven on the other hand had

done a complete one eighty. He doesn’t glare at me anymore but I can’t say we are best buds. Well it’s

an improvement. Austin comes by once in a while and is his usual charming self.

Aaron on the other hand is mad at me. He knows I am hiding something from him and I will till it is

necessary for him to know. As promised the twins didn’t tell him anything either. That made him furious

but he was happy that I am alright now. I can see he is upset about me hiding things from him but I

don’t want him to feel sorry for me or be depressed himself. I wasn’t going to tell the pack either but the

circumstances were not in my favor. Why drag everyone in my misery?
