Chapter 9: Upsetting Ace  

"Athy! Come here! We are here!"

Athena heard Suzanne’s voice from her left while she was wandering off mindlessly.

She was trying to catch Ace’s scent to find him and Suzanne.

Suzanne was sitting on the breakfast table with unknown faces.

Ace was sitting between Nathan and another man, surprisingly not with o r beside Suzanne.

She walked toward the table with a cold look on her face, trying to present herself as unapproachable.

There were two unknown faces with Suzanne, Nathan and Ace.

"Ace."

She called him, who was busy giggling at something the other man was saying.

He looked up as soon as he heard her voice and gave him a big smile.

"Mommy!"

He exclaimed loudly in happiness before standing up on his chair and jumped on i t.

"I love it here so much!"

He exclaimed with a clap, making her shocked.She looked at Suzanne who was giving her a worried look.

Suzanne knew that something was wrong.

But she didn’t know what.

Something was keeping Athena on the edge.

"Ace, come with me.We are leaving."

She said in a blank tone before forwarding her hands toward him to take him.

Suzanne stood up from her chair after hearing her.She looked at Athena with a deep frown.

"What do you mean by leaving?"

She asked in confusion and displeasure.

"Mommy, we are not leaving from here.I love it here so much.I don’t like home at all.I don’t want to go back there." Ace said in a shaky tone.

He was going to cry soon.He was trying hard to keep it in.So cute!

"Ace, come with mommy."

She didn’t want to have this conversation with her two years old baby boy.It’s too complicated.

So, she ignored his words and tried to take him again but he stepped away.

"No! Tell me we are not going back home.I don’t want to go there."

He couldn’t keep his tears anymore and a few big fat tears rolled down his chubby cheeks.

Everyone was silent and were watching the scene silently.

They didn’t want to interrupt the mother son duo even though they had things to say in the situation.

Athena let out a sigh seeing her precious little baby cry.She hates to see tears in his eyes but for some reason he got that gene from her.She is someone who is super sensitive.

Though she learnt to control it over the years.

But her son! Bless him!

"Baby, please don’t cry.We are not going back there.Are you happy?"

She asked with a small smile, Her statement didn’t only make him happy but everyone else on the table let out a sigh of relief as well, "Really? You are the best, mommy! So, that means we can stay here!"

Ace exclaimed in happiness before clapping his hands again in happiness, Nathan held his legs with a small smile.

He is afraid that Ace will fall off with all the jumps.

"We are not going back home doesn’t mean we are going to stay here, baby." Athena said with a small sigh, worrying everyone again.

"I want to stay here, mommy!"

Ace shouted in anger.

"Ace, we are not staying here.We are going to live somewhere more beautiful and fun.Come with me now." She said patiently but Ace wasn’t having it.

He got down from the chair suddenly and looked up at his mom with a big frown on his cute face.

"Ace is angry with you, mommy! You don’t love Ace at all! Ace is going away!"

He shouted at her before running away somewhere even before she could stop him.He always uses his own name to narrate things if he is angry.

"Ace! Stop!"

She shouted behind him and was going to run behind him when Suzanne stopped her.

"Don’t go behind him now.He is angry and you need to calm down as well." novelbin

Suzanne said in a serious tone.

"What are you saying?! He is a child.What if he gets lost here?"

Athena exclaimed in a worried tone before trying to go after him again.

"Don’t worry, he will be fine.I mind linked one of the maids to look after him." Nathan said as he looked up at Athena.

She scoffed at him.

"You might not know but I don’t trust my son with maids." She snapped.

"And you might not know but Crescent Mystery Pack’s maids are different from Shadow Eclipse packs."

He retorted back immediately.

"The tree is enough to say how the fruits are gonna be!"

She snapped back again while fuming.She meant Dominic by the tree and his pack members are the fruits.She knows how cruel and heartless he is.So, she doesn’t expect much from his pack members.

Nathan obviously got the hint and didn’t like what she said about Dominic.But he kept quiet for Suzanne’s sake.But there were two more people on the table.

One man and one woman.

The man spoke up against Athena.

"You can’t talk like this about us while standing on our territory.None of us is going to accept that."

The man declared in a hard tone.

Athena frowned at him but before she could say something, Suzanne interrupted.

"Justin, please don’t mind her.She is not like this usually.She is just in a bad mood.Please excuse us for a moment."

Suzanne quickly explained before pulling Athena with her to a side.

They were away from anyone’s earshot.

"What’s wrong with you, Athy? Did you leave all your never ending patience in that shit hole o r what? Why are you on edge so much?" Suzanne asked with a frown.

She never imagined that there would be a time when she would say Athena that.She always used to complain about her patience toward those pathetic people and their inhumanity.

But here she kept losing them at every single person, including her lovely son! Something is up for sure!

"Nothing is wrong with me, Suzanne.I just don’t want to stay in this pack.I want to leave and that’s final."

Athena stated while fuming.

She felt so restless at that moment.She felt like her fucked up life just got messier.She couldn’t bear that man’s presence around her for a second.She felt like his presence, his scent was burning her flesh while making her senseless at the same time.

"Why? What’s wrong with the pack?" Suzanne asked with a frown.

She was stubborn to know what’s going on.

"Nothing is wrong with the pack.It’s the… alpha of the pack who is the root of everything."

Athena said in a low tone, not wanting anyone to hear her and create a new drama.

"Alpha Dominic? Why? What did he do?"

Suzanne asked in confusion.She agrees that he was a little bit rude and cold but he still went there to save Athena on her request.She can’t imagine what would have happened if he hadn’t reached there on time.

"Can you imagine what would have happened if he hadn’t saved you? Do you know he even got hurt when he went to save you?" Suzanne asked, trying to make sense with her.

"I don’t care.If you want me to thank him for saving me, I will do that but just because he saved me, doesn’t mean he bought me.He doesn’t have any right to keep me caged here.Do you know what he said? He said he is going to take away Ace from me if I don’t stay here! How dare he?!"

Athena let out a small growl.

U She can let go of anything, she can ignore anything but that! No one! No one should dare to even think of that or she will make sure to make them regret.

"Calm down, Athy.I know he is wrong to do that.But please ignore that.He is the Alpha.He is the strongest of this region and of all the leaders of four regions.God knows what he can do.Please don’t mess with him."

Suzanne tried to explain.

But Athena wasn’t having it.

"I am not afraid of him, Suzy." She snarled.

Suzanne let out a sigh after hearing that.

"He is not asking for much, is he? Please stay here.

Also, where are you going to go from here? Do you know that all the members of the shadow eclipse pack are furious at you, including Alpha Derrick? They are going to kill you the moment you step out of this pack.

You can’t risk Ace’s life just because of your ego.Think smartly.You are safe here."

Suzanne explained once more and that left Athena into thinking.

Suzanne was right.She indeed didn’t have any place to go.She didn’t even have money.

The least she could manage was a hotel for a few days.

What after that? She didn’t think of that.

And now that she thought of all these, she started to calm down slowly.She let out a few breaths.

"Okay, fine.I am going to stay here.But only for a few days and away from the alpha.Not in his house or in the pack house.Can you talk to your mate and see if he can arrange a place for me to stay somewhere else?" Athena asked Suzanne.

Suzanne let out a sigh of relief.

"Fine, I will talk to him.Come, let me introduce you to the other two people.I am sure you are going to like them."

Suzanne said with a smile and they both started to walk back to the room.

Athena sniffed the air once more.

She was keeping track of Ace by his scent which is why she was still standing there.She can trace his scent from far along with his anger, happiness, nervousness and fear.She can smell new scents around him as well if no one blocks it.

With assurance that he was safe, she walked inside the room with all eyes on her once again.

‘Try to keep your mouth shut this time" Her wolf advised.

"Guys, so sorry for earlier.Let me introduce you to my best friend." Suzanne said in a cheerful tone as soon as they neared the table.

Everyone waited for her to continue.

"Guys, this is Athena, my best friend.The strongest, bravest and most caring person in the world.The best mother as well for Ace.And Athena, you already met my mate, Nathan.He is the beta of this pack.This is Justin, the Gamma of the pack as in the third in command and that’s Patricia, his mate."

She introduced everyone.

Everyone else waved their hands toward Athena except Justin who had a grumpy look on.

"Hello, everyone.Hello, Nathan and Patricia.And Justin? I apologise for my previous behaviour.I wasn’t in my right mind.Hope you can let that go and we can start fresh.Nice to meet you all."

Athena said in a very calm and collected tone, sounding really mature and almost like a leader.

Justin was a little taken aback by her apology as he wasn’t expecting that from her after the attitude she showed.

Patricia gave him a small nudge to bring him back from his thoughts.

He turned away from Athena and looked elsewhere with an awkward look on her face.

"Okay, I accept your apology.Just because of Ace.I love that sweet little buddy.He is the most adorable thing I have ever seen on this planet."

Justin gushed in happiness, making everyone chuckle.

Athena smiled a little because there was no doubt in that.

"That’s so true, Athena.He is so adorable.I am in love with him already.You raised him so well.I wonder whom he has taken after? You or his father?" Patricia asked in curiosity.

"Me.He is my son.So, he obviously took after me."

Athena answered a little too fast.

Even though her question was really general and harmless, Athena knew she asked it very innocently as well but she didn’t like the question.

She didn’t show it though but her answer was a little too abrupt.

"So cute! It’s nice to meet you, Athena.Hope you can be great friends." Patricia said with a polite smile.

Athena felt a little guilty for behaving like a brat in front of them.

"I hope the same, Patricia."

She offered her a small smile "Okay, guys.Now I have something important to talk to you all about."

Suzanne suddenly spoke up in a serious tone and Athena knew what it was about.
