Chapter 9: Cope Up and Adapt
Ace's POV
I look at my brother and he was now crying while burying his head on my chest.
(I feel sorry for him but this is the only thing I can do for him. He's been with them like forever. He grew
up with them and I know that it's hard to let go of someone)
I look at grandma and she was also crying while rubbing Glen's back and telling him it's going to be
okay.
"There... there.... sweetheart. It's going to be fine. Everything will be fine. It's not that we won't see each
other again, right" grandma reassures while patting Glen.
"You can come visit us anytime that you want. Me and your grandpa will be waiting and expecting for
your visits even if it's unannounced" she finished and slowly Glen stopped crying until he is only
sobbing.
Though he still buries his face on my chest and he doesn't like to look at grandma. But he suddenly
looks at grandma while his head is bowed down.
I saw grandma smile before talking to him. He touches Glen's face with her both hands and slowly rise
it for them to look in the eye.
"It's going to be fine, sweetheart. Come visit us" she said.
(Even though he is not okay.... what can we say... Grandma still needs to go back since she needs to
take good care of grandpa)
Mom came out of the kitchen and her face immediately softened when she saw our situation here.
Glen stood there while sobbing and grandma just kissed him on the forehead.
Suddenly grandma said something and Glen suddenly stop crying and sobbing. I immediately looked at
grandma and she just smile while wiping her tears away.
(What did grandma do?) suddenly Glen started to fall down so I immediately catch him with my
reflexes. I look up at grandma with a questioning look making her smile at me and put her pointing
finger near her lips.
"I made him sleep so I suggest you carry him to the couch since I know he will have a tantrum so I
suggest we'll make him calm down for a bit" she said while looking at me.
I slowly carry Glen to the couch without waking him up and laid him on it while grandma and mom
followed suit too.
We waited for Glen to wake up so we tried to watch a movie while waiting for him to wake up.

"Are you sure you just made him sleep grandma?" I asked her and she glared at me. novelbin
It's nearly going to be an hour and still Glen shows no sign of waking up. I thought that he would just
take a nap not really sleep until morning.
"Of course, sweet heart. He just--" suddenly Glen started to move and we looked at him waiting
patiently us he opens his eyes.
"He's waking up" our sister said while she went to sit next to mom.
Dad and little sis came a moment ago after I laid Glen on the sofa. We explained to them what
happened since dad gave us all a questioning look and little sis with a confused one.
And so now here we are at last waiting for the princess-- I mean Glen to wake up.
"Hey the princess is already waking up" I joked and everyone look at me in boredom.
"Up... I just want to cheer everyone up" I said feeling dejected.
Glen looked at us and saw all of us staring at him. He looks at grandma and then back to us.
"Oh no way... you didn't kiss me right... yuck that would be terrible. I don't know where that mouth of
yours been through" he said making all of us look at him in confusion and amazement.
"I'm always intrigued and can't help to be surprised with your personality sweetheart" grandma said
while looking at Glen.
"Sorry if I made a mess" he said while getting up into a sitting position and little sis suddenly went to
hug him which surprised him making him stiff for a moment before returning the hug to sis.
"Mom I'm really starting to doubt if she is just a kid or my older sister" he said after they broke of the
hug then suddenly all of us laughed making sis pout but I just ruffled her hair making her groan and
complain even more.
"Not the hair" she said fixing her hair while swaying my hand away but I still tease her until she ran
away and went near mom.
"Guess you’re all better now, are you?" I asked and he smile. It's not the smile that is forced but rather
his real smile.
"Yup.... I just need to get that out of my system or else I might explode and blow up if I keep it in" he
said making me smile.
(This is what I like and admire with my brother's personality. He easily adapts to new environment and
situation making me proud of him)
I still remember when he needed to move to our grandparents’ house. He was crying when we left him
at first that I thought that if we'll comeback he'll hate us and never to talk to us ever again.
So, when we visited him, I was so damn nervous and scared of what will he say to us. But I was
surprised when we arrived.
He was so happy when we came to see him and he said that He loved the place and that he
understands what happened.
I never knew why he needed to move to our grandparents. I tried to ask my parents but they didn't tell
me the real reason back then. They just said that it's dangerous and not suitable at our place for him to
stay. But now I know the real reason.
I suddenly feel sad when I remember the reason why he needed to move back then.
"Ace are you okay?" Glen said looking at me which snap me back to reality by his question.
I smiled at him to reassure him. "Yup I'm totally fine. I just can't believe that you're finally here" I
honestly said and he smiled widely.
"Oh.... GROUP HUG" he shouted and we all made a big group hug while laughing.
We broke the hug and we all told grandma our goodbyes and she went to get her luggage which dad
carried.
Glen went to grandma and hug her tightly like never before for the last time. (Though not the last since
he will see them again. But you know what I mean...)
"Slowly kid you might break me" grandma joked and they both laughed.
"Come and visit me here" Glen told her when she went outside.
"Promise to come and visit us too" Grandma said and Glen nods his head in approval.
We all kissed grandma on her cheek and hug her which she returned also before she went in the car.
We watched the car drove away and then I approached Glen and slung my hand on his shoulder.
"Alright... let's get inside and sleep now... we still have classes tomorrow" I told him. And he nods then
smiles like what he usually does.
(See what I mean he already coped up and adapted with the situation like it was nothing)

Glen's POV
We went to school early since I stopped Ace again from throwing all of his clothes in the air. Now he is
sulking while driving since he didn't like what I picked for him.
(If this was just an ordinary day, I might have laughed at him but it's not because of what happened last
night. Thought that’s not a reason not to still try and tease him and what happened last night is already
done. So, let's have some fun) I sang inside of my head.
"Oh Ace...... your clothes look good on you" I tried to cheer him up but he just shrug.
"I might start to dislike your ability to cope up immediately after what happened last night" he said while
we are driving towards Kaylee's house.
(Yup just like I said I already cope up with what happened last night like it was just a normal day.
What's the point of sulking when you know that you'll see the again... right?)
"Oh Ace... thank you for helping me last night by the way" I said trying to make him stop sulking but it
didn't work.

So, at the end he made me sit at the back even though I tried bargaining to him but he won't budge so I
accepted the deal. To sit at the back.
(Huh... he can be so childish sometimes) I sigh before looking at him.
"What did you do?" I hear Kaylee mumble at my side when she entered the car.
We had just picked up Kaylee. And still Ace won't talk to me. I guess I really messed his clothes we'll I'll
talk to him later.
"He's having a bad clothes day" I replied and Kaylee just say Oh.
"Oh, come on Ace. That clothes are good on you. That's mostly composed of your best clothes that you
wear" I tried to talk to him again but he's still stubborn.
He just kept quiet so I just sigh. (I know he will give in too. Let's just wait...)
The ride was so quiet and I bet Kaylee felt the awkwardness in the car so I talked her about grandma
going home.
"Did grandma go to your house?" I asked her and she nods.
"She.... she told me that you cried" she snicker making Ace chuckle then he realizes what he did and
he immediately cleared his throat.
(See told you he will give up sooner or later) We talked about it until we arrived at school and he still
won't talk to me so I did what I always do to cheer him up.
He turned off the engine and I immediately went near him and kissed his cheeks which surprised him.
(I always do that when he's upset... only when I have no other choices)
We went out of the car and we were about to leave when Ace spoke.
"I'm not mad it's just that these clothes are plain and simple" he said pointing to his clothes but
suddenly a girl passed
She looks at Ace and my brother was surely nervous. (Oh, for Pete’s sake he is good in that clothes
than the previous one's he used)
"Nice clothes Ace" she said and I swear my brother nearly squeezed me when the girl left.
"Thank you bro... thank you-" he said while kissing my cheek and I was chuckling.
"Enough your squeezing me. I can't breathe..." I said trying to get out of his hug.
He squeezed me more and I look at Kaylee who is laughing at me. (That girl... help me.... but...)
"Help... me..." I reach for her desperately but she steps back and took out her phone and took a picture
at us.
My brother then let go of me and he went to Kaylee. While I was catching my breath since they are
leaving me.
"Send the picture to me" I hear my brother said and I immediately look at them.
"No freaking.... way that you’re going to send that to him" I look at Kaylee daring her to do it.
Then she did a move that made me pale. She gave me a wicked smile and my brother immediately
look at his phone.
"Oh, he is so cute here. Thanks Kay" my brother said using her nickname.
I pale and stare at my brother. (Please don't make that your screen saver) I prayed but looks like life is
wicked.
"I'll make this my screen saver" he said and I dash to get his phone.
He senses it so the put it out of my reach so I tried reaching for it.
"You idiot and your damn heights" I said in frustration since his taller than me for a couple of inches.
(At least were fine now) I said to my mind while smiling.
I look at Kaylee trying to make her help me but to my dismay she just laughed. (That witch....grrr) I
groan at her when suddenly someone spoke.
"Stop flirting in this place" a voice said making us all stop.
Kaylee stopped laughing and me and my brother stop in mid-air. I fix myself and my brother wanted to
talk but I stop him.
"What do you want this time" I asked but she just look at my brother ignoring my question.
"I didn't know you swing the other way around Ace" she said.
(So, he knows my brother)
I look at my brother. Disgust flashed over in his face making me want to laugh but I resisted it.
I nearly laughed at that. He wanted to talk but I look at him daring him to talk. He shut his mouth and
sigh in defeat.
An idea came out of my mind and I gave my brother a silly smile and he eyed me curiously then his
eyes went wide.
"Don't you dare" he whisper and I immediately look at Kaylee and she flashed me the same smile.
"Glen-" he froze there in place.
"Let me handle this bro" I said and chuckle at his expression.
"So now we have a strange couple. Hey guys come and see this" she snickers making me avert my
attention to her.
(So.... they are all here.... huh) then just on cue they pop out of nowhere with curios expressions.
"Guys could you believe it they are couples" she wickedly said and I saw the surprised look on their
faces.
(You should have seen it, it was so damn priceless)
I look at Kaylee and she was trying to give a serious face but failed since he was smiling so she
covered her mouth to hide it.
"What do you mean" Sky, the boy with black hair said in confusion.
"Couples, two people in a relationship" I said and they look at me. I was trying hard to stop myself from
laughing.
"Are you for real?" Andre, the boy with brown hair said while looking at my brother.
"Oh, he is... right bro" I said looking at my brother.
"Bro... what a funny pet name" Kaylee chuckle and look at me.
Then suddenly someone talks and I immediately look at that person.
"Awful" he said.
"What do you mean?" I said staring at him.
"That's ridiculous and absurd" he said and I just rolled my eyes.
"Your just jealous you don't have a love life" I snicker and he glared at me.
"Huh... with the looks of me. I can have anyone" he cockily said and I shake my head.
(A person who has a high ego. Just like that prick back then)
Then suddenly someone interjected and ruined the fun I'm having.
"Hey... uhm... Glen why is your brother not moving? Where going to be late now" he innocently said.
Tobios and his friends froze in shock and especially Antonette her mouth was wide open.
I glare at Mark and he just look at us then to the other group confused.
"Did I come at the wrong time?" he said nervously.
"Way to go ruining the fun Mark" I sarcastically said while looking at Kaylee.
Looks like she got the point and immediately Ace moved.
Ace smack my head. And we laugh except the others, only the three of us are laughing.
"What is really happening here" Sky said in confusion looking at my brother.
"Oh, Sky my brother was just messing around with you" my brother said in between chuckle.
Both I and Kaylee were still laughing. (I can't believe they fall for it...)
"Your acting skills are developing now eh..." Kaylee snicker nudging my side.
"You’re going to work on your part too" I bicker while looking at her and we stopped laughing when we
run out of breaths.
"Could someone tell me what happening here" Mark asked confused and they glared at him except us.
"Oh, we were just having some fun" I said looking at the other group who are just staring-- I mean
glaring at us.
(Maybe they already realize we made fun of them)
