My dream was initially to go into medicine and become a medical doctor, until one day, my father. suddenly had the brilliant idea to leave all of his company’s top managerial positions under my name, desperate knowing that | had no interest in anything business.

| refused the position at first, but when | saw how desperately my father wanted me to take over from him, | was left with no other choice but to take over the position and get into construction instead

of medicine.

| was confused when my father initially offered the company to me. | genuinely wanted to understand why he was handing it over, despite the fact that he was still able to keep running the company without me.

| had thought that he just wanted to have control over me, but his response surprised me instead.

“I'm giving you everything because | want to pursue my dreams as well, Richard. I’m already over sixty, and | haven’t even fulfilled one of my biggest wishes yet,” he stated.

“Well, of course, my most important dream is to see you get married and start a family, but besides that, there is something your mother and | have always wanted to try doing, and we don’t want to become too old before we go for it,” he explained.

After hearing what he had to say and why he transferred the company to me, | found myself accepting the situation and forgetting what | had initially wanted to be.

My parent's relationship was something | envied a lot, even though | personally did not think that love and relationships were for me, and | also have no interest in pursuing love.

| just wasn’t fond of the idea of falling in love and giving my all to anyone, because to me, love wasn’t for everyone, and | wouldn't be caught dead pouring out my heart to someone who could easil
