Chapter 60 Awkward

With an embarrassed smile and a shrug of the shoulders, Emma explained, “My dog ran out of food. I can't let my dog starve. It is picky and only eats one brand…”

The owner was a northeast man, more than 40 years old, some fat. Hearing Emma's rambling, he didn't say anything.

After Emma finished speaking, he said with a smile, “You come in the right time. It’s been closed these days, but I came to grad something, and you happened to come in the right time. What brand do you want? I get it for you.”

Emma took a glance at the position of the dog food. She really did not know what kind of dog food Nunu liked to eat, because Maggie would take care of it.

She pointed casually at one of the brands, “I'll take Mercer.”

With half a bag of dog food in her hand, she walked fast.

At the door of Sean's villa, Emma turned around and looked at the pet store, it was closed.

She took sending Nunu dog food as an excuse, but she could not get through with Sean.

After about 10 minutes of ringing the doorbell, there was still no movement inside. Emma was completely discouraged.

She was crouching at the door of the villa, her hands and feet shriveled for it was too cold, but she did not want to go.

She wanted to wait a little longer, probably he would be back in a minute.

Soon, the sports car that had just passed drove back, stopping beside Emma.

When the window fell, Edward's face suddenly appeared in Emma's line of sight.

Edward looked Emma over from top to bottom. After making sure that he was not mistaken, he said with a bad smile, “Hey, isn't this wild cat? What are you doing standing here on such a cold day?”

Hearing Edward calling her wild cat, Emma got sick of him. She said in heart, “Are you blind? What am I supposed to do standing at the door? Do you expect a home invasion?!”

Edward was stunned for a moment. He had already known this girl. Not surprised, he turned to smile and said, “Ok, none of my business. You go on.”

Emma was too lazy to answer him and turned around directly, leaving a back to him.

Edward drove the car away, and Emma gradually disappeared in his rearview mirror.

All the way Edward had been worried, thinking of that she was frozen miserably.

Finally, he called the Knight’s house and said over the phone, “Sean, what's the matter with you and your wild cat? She seems to have been standing at the door of your villa for a long time, and I saw her face was pale for it was cold...”

Emma looked back in surprise.

At the moment when they looked at each other, Emma seemed to forget that her feet were still numb, she lifted her legs and walked toward Sean.

But she failed, her legs were so unwieldy that they seemed not belong to her.

Sean's coat button had not been fastened, apparently he was in a hurry to be back.

He found something wrong with Emma, walked to her and held her arms, to avoid her falling down.

Sean frowned, “What's wrong with your legs?”

Emma smiled with embarrassment, “Well, nothing, I have been squatting for too long, so my legs were numb......”

Sean said nothing. His eyes fell on the half bag of dog food not far away. “Is that why you came here at midnight?”

Emma was guilty, only dare to secretly glance at him through the corner of her eye. She said , “Who knows whether you have mistreated Nunu when I was not around. I felt worried.”

Sean ignored her, picked up the dog food, opened the door of the villa with the remote-control key.

Emma felt better in legs. When she saw Sean strode into, she quickly followed in.

As she entered the villa’s door, Sean turned to her, “Nunu is not here!”

In the entrance hall, Sean turned on the light and stood at the door changing his shoes.

Emma looked inside. It was quiet, it seemed that no one had been there these days, because the shoe cabinet was covered with a layer of dust.

“Where is Flora?” Emma asked staring at Sean's back.

Without turning around, Sean put the dog food aside, took off his coat and said, “It went home for the New Year and will come back after the eighth day.”

Emma was enlightened suddenly.

She followed him into the living room. Before she stopped, Sean turned and went up to the second floor.

After a moment of thinking, Emma did not follow her but waited in the living room.

There were bedrooms on the second floor. What if he went to change clothes? How embarrassed it was if she followed him.

Emma sat in the sofa, could not help but shivering. No one lived in the villa for a long time, and no air conditioning was on, so the temperature was the same as outside, it was freezing cold.

Soon, however, Sean came down from the second floor.

His clothes were the same as when he came, but his tie had been removed and one of the buttons of his shirt had been opened.

Emma stared at his collar and wondered if he was cold.
