Chapter 19 It Is Your Turn Now

His words reverberated in the room and hit everyone like thunder.

Instantly, everyone in that entire ballroom was taken aback. With bated breath, they watched the scene

unfold in disbelief.

Regardless of the Murrays, Jared, or the other guests, all of them looked flabbergasted.

The Custodian of Jadeborough was not someone that the notaries would dare to go against. Even

Jared would not dare to do so!

Yet, someone of such an esteemed status actually saluted Christopher!

“H-How can this be happening?”

How is this possible?

When both Fabian and Fabio saw what happened, they lost it. Never did they expect Christopher to be

acquainted with someone that important.

“Isn’t Christopher just a veteran? Where does he get the connections to know someone like this?”

Naturally, Jared was the most startled among the lot. He had initially wanted to use the opportunity to

get rid of Christopher and have Julianna to himself. Unfortunately, things had taken a drastic turn that

shook him to the core.

Even his dad would not have the guts to offend the Custodian of Jadeborough. Under normal

circumstances, Jared would require the help of his connections in order to arrange for a meeting with

the Custodian.

Right then, the Custodian actually saluted Christopher, and it was freaking Jared out.

As for the notaries, they were all trembling in fear. No matter what, they had been bribed by Jared. Now

that things had unfolded in that manner, not only would they lose their jobs, but they would also end up

in jail too!

All of a sudden, they recalled Christopher’s earlier warnings. It then dawned on them that Christopher

had come prepared.

At that moment, they utterly regretted their actions. If they had any inkling, they would never have been

there in the first place.

At first, they thought nothing much would happen since it was only a veteran that they were dealing

with. None of them could foresee that a retired soldier had the ability to get someone that powerful to

As for Julianna, her tears fell uncontrollably when she saw that. She thought there would be no escape

for them that day. To make matters worse, Jared would definitely want his revenge since Christopher

had beaten up Fabio in Jared’s territory.

Thankfully, everything changed when the Custodian of Jadeborough arrived.

Despite whatever happened, Jared would have to be respectful in front of him.

Christopher looked up at the Custodian of Jadeborough, who also happened to be his subordinate,

Lupine!

Christopher returned the salute and said seriously, “I thank the country for standing up for a veteran!”

Lupine’s eyes were filled with murderous intent at that moment. If Christopher had not phoned and

cautioned him in advance to not expose his identity, Lupine would have exploded.

He would have easily annihilated Jared and the notaries for forcing his general to get down on his

knees.

Then again, Lupine was well aware of his own position and also that of Christopher. He must not cause

any trouble for Christopher.

Lupine nodded, turned around, and questioned the notaries, “What have all of you done?”

Lupine’s voice sounded rough as it was. Now that he was enraged, his voice was so terrifying that it

shook the whole hall. Although his appointment as the Custodian of Jadeborough was very recent, that

did not undermine his authority and power in the least bit.

Those notaries were so frightened that their legs were shaking, and they broke out in cold sweat.

“C-Custodian, we’re here to do our jobs. We didn’t do anything wrong!”

“That’s right. Someone told us that the deed that the Murrays owns is obtained through theft. That’s

why we are here!”

The few men tried very hard to defend themselves seeing that they had not received Jared’s bribe.

That was the only thing that gave them confidence.

“That’s nonsense. Uncle Fabian is the one who asks Fabio to send the deed to us,” retorted Julianna

angrily.

“Utter rubbish! I have never asked my son to do that,” argued Fabian.

That was their only opportunity to get the deed back as long as they held on to their story.

“Yes, Christopher is the one who stole the deed. We did not deliver it to them,” said the Murrays.

Even Jared also said with a smile, “Custodian, several of the Murrays have confirmed that Christopher

has stolen the deed.”

“How dare you slander him? That’s against the law. Who allows you to spew something like this? Do

you think I won’t be able to find out the truth? I’m going to give you a chance now. Tell me the truth. If

not, I’ll have all of you arrested,” threatened Lupine.

The Murrays backed down the moment they heard what Lupine said. If they got arrested, the younger

generation would not be able to hold the fort!

“W-We can’t bear to let go of the land. That’s why we thought of this idea,” said Fabian as he

shuddered.

Christopher could not help but sneer when he heard that, “So now, what do the notaries have to say?”

“We didn’t know about this before. Don’t worry. We will do the notarization right now.” The few officials

almost died of fright. Now that Fabian had admitted that they framed Christopher, there was nothing for

them to say.

“All of you still want to do notarization? Forget it! You won’t get the chance anymore. Caleb, you know

what to do!” Lupine shouted at Caleb.

Caleb immediately responded, “I have already informed the Law Enforcement Department. They

should be here soon. Let the notaries explain themselves to the law enforcement team later!”

Caleb’s position might not be as high as the Custodian of Jadeborough, but he was no less powerful

since he was the secretary of the mayor.

His words had sealed the fate of those notary officials.

“Mr. Larson! Mr. Larson! We are sorry. Please give us another chance!” The officials became so fearful

that they started begging and sobbing.

“It’s over for all of you,” said Lupine viciously.

With that, the notaries collapsed to the ground. Their lives were over.

Caleb said coldly, “There wasn’t any issue when we went to obtain the notarization for Dragon Valley

just now.”

That was the conclusion of the notarization issue.

Jared was well aware that there was no way he could threaten Julianna with the Dragon Valley

notarization anymore.

As for Fabio, he was baffled. Before he could take revenge on Christopher for the kick that he had

given him, everything was over.

Fabio refused to accept such an outcome and said through gritted teeth, “He has hit me. Is he allowed

to hit anyone just because he’s a veteran?”

“Hit you? That was nothing. Without the soldiers to defend our borders and be the backbone of

Chanaea, you won’t be here at a banquet!” said Lupine fiercely.

That stumped Fabio and left him speechless.

Jared could see how intimidating Christopher was at that moment. Besides, he had no idea how

Christopher was connected to the Custodian of Jadeborough. Therefore, he decided not to say

anything at all.

Very soon, they could hear hurried footsteps. The very next moment, more than ten police officers

dashed in. Everyone in the ballroom stepped aside because they knew why the law enforcement team

was there.

Someone muttered, “Mr. Cordrington is in serious trouble this time.”

Jared’s face turned grim. I wonder what this new Custodian is up to.

“Get these losers out of here,” ordered Caleb as he pointed to the notary officials on the ground.

Those men were so terrified that they could not stand up. In the end, they had to be dragged out of the

ballroom.

At that moment, the entire place fell into a dead silence.

“All right! Jared, it’s your turn now!”
