Chapter 7 Is Ms. Lloyd a Mistress?
“Waldron is my friend,” Claudia said
“Friend?” Edmond frowned with a chilly expression on his face. “I never thought you’d be friends with someone like Waldron.”
Waldron’s reputation as a pla yboy was widely known. Had he not been part of the Friedan family, he wouldn’t have anyone willing to associate with him.
“What’s wrong with him?” Claudia’s eyes flickered with disdain and sarcasm. “And how much better are you, Mr. Lamont?”
Waldron might be unreliable, but he was at least on her side. Edmond, on the other hand, consistently opposed her decisions and asked her to quit.
The more she compared them, the more she leaned towards Waldron. Favoritism seeped into her words. “Please, Mr. Lamont, do not be so mean to my friend.”
Edmond’s eyes darkened, a spark of anger igniting. “Do you even know what you’re saying?”
When he recalled Waldron’s cavalier attitude towards women, his face turned cold. “Waldron is a pla yboy. You can’t change that.”
“What does that have to do with me?”
Claudia replied with a righteous smile.
With her husband’s lack of support, why would Claudia refuse the only ally she had?

Edmond’s demeanor grew even colder. It was as if an icy barrier forming around him, sending a chill into the air.
“Do you have such strong feelings for Waldron?”
Edmond knew he shouldn’t show his anger.
A regular guy would have been fine for her, but Waldron? His reputation was well known. Waldron just had too many girlfriends.
With Claudia’s temperament, he doubted if she could last a year after she married Waldron.
“You seem to think the Friedan family is like the Lamont family, and that Waldron can genuinely protect you. Claudia, you’re young. Don’t bury your future.”
Claudia’s heart quivered, as she looked up with a gentle smile. “How else should I bury it? My marriage has been buried by you, hasn’t it?”
Edmond fixed his gaze on her, his voice softening.
After a few seconds, he spoke again. His tone was much softer.
“After the divorce, you can keep the villa.”
Claudia was momentarily taken aback.
“You’ve lived in it for a few years. Even if we divorce, we can still be friends…”
“No need.” Claudia clutched her coffee spoon and stirred her coffee absentmindedly. “Let’s not stay in touch after the divorce. I don’t need the house.”
Edmond felt something stuck in his throat, his eyes darkening.

“Edmond!”
Rosalie had arrived at some point, her voice not overly loud but sufficient to disrupt the tense atmosphere.
“A woman who betrays her husband doesn’t deserve the house. It is supposed to be a clean break.” Rosalie’s words cut through the air. sharp and direct.
The thought of Edmond secretly keeping the villa for Claudia fueled her anger
Why should Claudia, the one who cheated on her husband, get the Lamont family’s assets?
Rosalie’s arrival surprised Claudia. The accusation of cheating in her marriage stung. Claudia’s face darkened.

Claudia recalled the question Edmond had asked when she asked for a divorce about whether she had feelings for someone else. Claudia said

She hadn’t realized Edmond had shared such intimate details with Rosalie or taken them to heart. Edmond must have loved Rosalie so much to share these things.
“Indeed, Edmond has a reputation for infidelity.” Claudia chuckled, watching Rosalie’s expression change fast.
There was no evidence of Claudia’s infidelity, whereas Edmond’s history of cheating was known throughout town.

Rosalie’s face was distorted with anger.
Claudia laughed. She knew she couldn’t do much to Rosalie at the moment, but at least Claudia could pi ss her off.
By now, a crowd had gathered, some with cameras in hand, evidently those from the media.
Claudia knew they were with Rosalie.
Rosalie lifted her chin with a confident, arrogant demeanor. “Ms. Lloyd, I was already with Edmond when he married you. You’re the bump in our relationship. You’re the mistress.”
The reporters finally swooped in at Rosalie’s cue, firing questions at Claudia.
“Ms. Lloyd, is it true that you’re the mistress?”
“Have you divorced Mr. Lamont?”
“Ms. Lloyd…”
The barrage of questions overwhelmed Claudia. The crowd was so dense Claudia could hardly stand.
Suddenly, a hand stopped the microphones.
It was Edmond.
“Mr. Lamont!” The reporters were somewhat flustered.
Edmond’s figure was slender, his visage exquisitely attractive. In daylight, his gaze was piercingly cold.

Reports were misled by Rosalie to fire questions at Claudia. They shouldn’t have left Edmond, such a gorgeous man, in the cold.
He commanded attention, radiating an air of brilliance that dispelled the embarrassment hanging in the air.
“Mr. Lamont, is Ms. Lloyd a mistress?” a reporter asked.
The crowd hushed, awaiting him.
All eyes were fixed on Edmond. Their anticipation was palpable.
Claudia shared in the collective suspense.
She knew that if Edmond confirmed her as a mistress, she’d bear that label forever. If he denied it, Rosalie would take the blame.
Despite her intuition, she yearned for Edmond’s defense in front of the assembled crowd.
Edmond stood resolute like a sturdy pine. His gaze met hers, his eyes brimming with emotions she struggled to discern.
The gaze, icy and distant, sent her heart plummeting.
“Is there a need to ask such a question? You’re well aware of how long Edmond and I have known each other, aren’t you?” Rosalie’s smile was innocent.
Her tone carried a flirtatious intimacy that drew her closer to the reporters.
Realization dawned among the journalists.

marriage? Edmond and Rosalie, who had years of history, remained a couple in the eyes of many.
