Chapter 13 Did Nancy Had an Accident?

“What kind of deal?”

“You want money, and I want that bracelet. I’ll buy it for 1.4 million,” Madelline blurted out.

“You want to pay 1.4 million?” Nancy chuckled. “This bracelet is worth 14 million. You’re asking me to make a loss on this deal.”

Madelline steeled herself and gritted her teeth, saying, “Fine, 14 million it is.”

Of course, this is too expensive for her. However, as long as she could buy that bracelet and marry Nicholas, she would take it even if it cost 140 million. You need to take risks to succeed.

“I didn’t hear that wrong, did I? A few days ago, my mother-in-law mentioned that you’re no longer in favor. I’m curious. Where did you suddenly get this 14 million?”

Nancy tucked the jade bracelet back into her clothing and discreetly glanced at the “divorce agreement” in Madelline’s hand.

Seeing Nancy leave, Madelline chased after her emotionally in her wheelchair.

Soon, they arrived at the entrance of the hospital.

The street outside the gate was bustling with traffic.

Madelline was solely focused on chasing after Nancy, frantically propelling her wheelchair and racing after her at high speed.

Suddenly, a car approached from the right, and it was too late. She and her wheelchair were blocking the middle of the road.

Bang!

The wheelchair was instantly overturned as it was hit, and Madelline fell to the ground.

When Nancy heard the noise and turned around, she saw Madelline and her overturned wheelchair.

Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly turned back to go to Madelline.

Luckily, this happened right in front of the hospital, so emergency medical personnel quickly arrived and wheeled Madelline into the emergency room.

When Nancy rushed over, all that remained on the ground was Madelline’s phone, with warm blood splatters, emitting a strong smell of blood.

She had barely picked it up before she covered her mouth and began to vomit uncontrollably.

It wasn’t until she had emptied her stomach, almost bringing up bile, that she started to feel a little better.

A man exited the car and glared at Nancy, grumbling, “Hey! Are you her family member?”

Nancy was about to speak up and deny it when the man continued, “I was driving perfectly within. the rules, and she ran into the red light. I have nothing to do with this accident.”

“No, you hit her with your car and must wait for the police.” Nancy held onto him firmly.

The man was highly impatient and pushed Nancy aside. “You’re annoying! I’ve already said it’s her fault. I won’t cover her medical expenses.”

“Get out of my way! I have other things to do.”

The man walked past her, got into his car, and quickly drove away.

Nancy smelled the strong smell of alcohol on his body and frowned.

This man was driving while intoxicated, yet he dared to shift the blame onto someone else.

Silently taking note of the license plate number and the man’s physical appearance, Nancy immediately went to the hospital.

She didn’t have time to argue with this man here. Now, Madelline’s life was the most important

Nancy couldn’t bear to imagine it.

Nicholas would indeed despise her if something happened to Madelline.

The sign above the “Emergency Room” was brightly lit. Nancy glanced at it, feeling her legs go

weak.

She opened her bag, intending to find a wet tissue to wipe away the bloodstains on her phone. Still, for some reason, her hands kept trembling uncontrollably.

She searched her bag for three minutes and still couldn’t find any

tissues.

Ultimately, she emptied her bag completely and quickly found a wet tissue, tearing it open to wipe off the blood from her phone.

Clutching her phone, she took a deep breath and dialed the incredibly familiar number in her heart.

“Madelline?” Nicholas’ voice came from the other end, gentle and reassuring.

“I’m Nancy.”

“Nancy? Isn’t this Madelline’s phone? Why do you have it?” Nicholas inquired.

After taking a deep breath, she continued, “Madelline had a car accident, and she’s currently under rescue. You need to come quickly!”

Tell me the address.”

“Lilypad Hospital.”

After ending the call, Nancy felt like all the strength had drained from her body. She collapsed to the ground, feeling utterly weak and helpless.

She didn’t like Madelline.

Any wife would oppose a woman who has consistently held the “ideal woman” role in her husband’s affections due to her promiscuous lifestyle and adept scheming,

However, she had never wished for Madelline to die either!

Undoubtedly, he climbed the stairs to get there.

Nancy raised her head, her dark eyes earnestly fixed on Nicholas. “She might have seen the divorce agreement you gave me and thought I was getting too much in the settlement. So, she wanted me to sign a new agreement that would leave me with nothing.”

“I disagreed, so I left on my own. She didn’t give up and started chasing me frantically. Then, on the road near the entrance, she got hit by a passing car.”

After speaking, she lowered her head again, her dark eyes fixed on the ground.

She dared not look into Nicholas’ eyes and had no idea how he would respond.

Luckily, Madelline was conscious, and it was clear that her condition had nothing to do with Nancy.

If Madelline had died, even if it wasn’t Nancy’s fault. Nicholas might still have believed it was her wrongdoing.

However, Nancy waited for five minutes to hear a response from Nicholas.

Looking up again, she saw him anxiously pacing at the emergency room entrance.

Two hours later, the lights finally went off, and a doctor came out.

Nancy hurried over. The doctor removed his mask, looking at Nicholas. “Are you the patient’s family?”

“Yes, I’m her fiancé.

Fiance?

Nancy froze. Her husband hadn’t even divorced, yet he was another woman’s fiance. It was indeed. the biggest joke in the world.

“Luckily, she was brought in quite in time. We managed to control the bleeding from her head. There’s a mild concussion, so she’ll need to rest. We recommend a follow-up examination in three days.”

“Alright, thanks.”

Hearing this, Nancy let out a sigh of relief.

She noticed Nicholas’ tightly clenched fists finally relaxed, and his two furrowed brows had also

cased.

He acts differently to his sweetheart.

Soon, Madelline was wheeled into the ward.

“Nicholas, I’ve noted down the driver’s information, he…”

Nancy started to speak. She wanted to tell him about the driver.

However, she realized that her side was now empty. Nicholas was pushing Madelline’s surgical bed with one hand and holding her hand tightly with the other. They looked like a deeply loving couple.

Nancy was left completely forgotten outside the emergency room.
