Letitia was scared out of her wits, her heart practically ready to leap out of her throat. She stretched out her hand in a desperate attempt to grab the pregnancy test result, crumpling it into a ball and clenching it tight in her palm!
Elgin’s lips were pressed against her shoulder, and seeing her sudden movement, suspicion instantly clouded his mind.
He lifted his head, eyeing the wad of paper in her palm
“What’s that in your hand. Elgin demanded icily, “Hand it over!”
“It’s nothing..
“Give it to me!”
When she didn’t comply, Elgin forcefully pried her fingers open one by one.
“You looking to break a bone? he warned her, “Let go!”
As if Letitia could let go! If Elgin found out she was pregnant, it would be curtains for both her and the baby!
That piece of paper was the decider of her and her baby’s fate!
Just as Elgin was about to pry her fingers completely open, Letitia suddenly propped herself up and hooked her arm around his neck, pressing her body tightly against his!
“Letitia, let go!
She didn’t have time to respond; her hand moved behind his back, shoving the pregnancy test into her mouth! She was going to swallow it, wipe the slate clean!
By the time Elgin tried to intervene, it was already too late.
Letitia chewed it a few times and swallowed!
He immediately grabbed her throat, “You sure have a lot of tricks up your sleeve! Spit it out!”
“Can’t spit it out,” Letitia shook her head, “It’s in my stomach now!”
Elgin’s eyes were bloodshot with rage, ‘What was so shady about that paper that you had to hide it like that?
Letitia stayed silent.
“Letitia, I swear I could strangle you!”
She closed her eyes, tilting her head up, “Well, I’m going to end up dead by your hands sooner or later, so go ahead!” Letitia waited in silence, her body trembling slightly with fear, but the anticipated heavy hand never came down on her slender neck
Footsteps sounded, moving quickly away!
Letitia opened her eyes just in time to see Elgin’s figure disappearing at the top of the stairs.
She breathed a sigh of relief, feeling an uncomfortable lump in her throat and her stomach churning. The nausea from the pregnancy and the revulsion of eating the paper surged up together. novelbin
Letitia bent over the couch, almost hurling up bile, her mouth bitter.
By the skin of her teeth, she had avoided Elgin discovering her pregnancy!
Just then, Shela walked into the living room entrance. Seeing Letitia in such a sorry state, jealousy nearly drove her Insane. Why should Letitia get to sleep with Elgin?
If only she was the one carrying that baby, wealth and status would be at her fingertips!
Hey, Letitia, Shela sneered as she approached, “What’s up with you…?”
Letitia didrit even bother to look at her, just rinsed her mouth with some water. But Shela, ever the meddler, squatted down beside her. “You wouldn’t be pregnant, would you?”
“Don’t talk nonsense!’ Letitia’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly retorted.
“I was just saying, why so scared?”
Shela chuckled under her breath, glancing around, “Where’s Mr. Ramirez?”
“He’s in the master bedroom.”
Letitia couldn’t wait for Shela to vanish, to stop being such an eyesore.
Shela headed towards the stairs.
At the same time, Letitia got up and headed to the bathroom.

At that moment, a glint of malice flashed through Shela’s eyes.
She couldn’t let Letitia keep the baby. If it were born and looked anything like Mr. Ramirez, her lie would be exposed, and Letitia would be on the fast track to success!
She deliberately sidled closer to Letitia, and as they brushed past each other, she suddenly stuck out her foot, aiming to trip her up!
For a pregnant woman, one wrong step could end in tragedy for the unborn child!
But what she hadn’t counted on was that Letitia was already on guard! Being pregnant made Letitia even more cautious than usual. The moment Shela’s foot came out, Letitia not only sidestepped it gracefully but also went behind Shela and gave a light flick of her foot-
“Ah!” Shela lost her balance and crashed to the ground with a thud.
Letitia feigned concern, You gotta watch your step, come on, at your age, still tripping over your own feet?”
“Bitch” Shela was livid, pointing a finger straight at her, “You did that on purpose!”
“That’s called shooting yourself in the foot, Letitia shrugged nonchalantly, turning away with a flourish.
And then, lifting her gaze, she saw Elgin standing on the second floor, staring down at her with a look that could kill.
“Mr. Ramirez! Seeing him. Shela immediately started playing the victim, “Letitia… she bullied me, I was just walking, and she deliberately tripped me, making me fall!”
For the first time, Letitia saw someone so blatantly lie through their teeth.
It was Shela who had tried to trip her first!
Letitia wanted to explain, but then she thought better of it-Elgin would never believe her.
She wasn’t the woman he cherished above all others.
With a heavy heart, Letitia hung her head and remained silent
Elgin descended the stairs, bent down to help Shela up, and she clung to him desperately, “Mr. Ramirez, it hurts so much…”

Letitia instantly became wary. Why would Shela ever cover for her? There must be a catch!

Letitia quickly withdrew her hand, taking a couple of steps back.
As she retreated, Shela’s steps followed, pretending to reach for her hand again but actually shoving Letitia hard!
Suddenly, Letitia couldn’t control her fall to the ground, and right beside her was the coffee table!
She cried out, but it was no use-she couldn’t steady herself, watching in horror as her stomach struck the sharp corner of the table!
A wave of excruciating pain swept through Letitia’s entire body!
“Whoops, why were you so careless, Shela exclaimed, “Letitia, you alright?”
She pretended to rush to Letitia’s aid, but inside she was doing a happy dance!
Looks like the bun’s gonna come out of the oven a bit too early, huh!
“Oh my god,” Shela pointed at the bright red on the floor, “Mr. Ramirez, check it out, Letitia seems to be bleeding!”
Elgin squinted his sharp eyes with a brooding look, “What’s going on here?”
Letitia was in so much pain she was rolling on the ground, fiercely biting the corner of her lip to keep her wits about her.
She can’t pass out!
Clutching her belly and curling up into a tiny ball, Letitia’s face was ghostly pale, “It hurts, it hurts so bad…”
Blood, slowly staining her pants red.
Her baby, her poor baby!
