Chapter 17: HouseMates!

*DEREK's POV*

For some reason, i wasn't angry even though she was blatantly disrespecting me as her alpha. Nor do i

want to scold her, but seeing that things would get complicated if the others misunderstood my

intentions. I came into a conclusion to warn her for now.

My eyebrows furrowed, and i locked eyes with her. "Listen here you little viper, I don't know if SunDale

didn't teach you manners while speaking to your alpha. But we don't do that here. Next time you

disrespect me like this, i'll be punishing you personally."

"Oh really? How though?"

"What?" I replied in disbelief.

Is she crazy? Why is she provoking me like this in front of others?

I stepped a little closer, leaned towards her as i carefully inspected her seductive purple eyes.

Everyone was expecting what i'd do, but even i was in a bit of a daze for a moment.

"You heard me." She says under her breath. "Look, i didn't mean it disrespectfully. Just like you asked,

we're here. And it'll be much appreciated if we get this over with."

I snapped back into reality. I took one step backwards and glared at her, "You want to get this over

with? then i'll make it short."

She falls back in line and everyone's attention returns to me. The close sounds of chirping birds

echoed as we all fell into silence.

"I gathered all of you here today so i can finally pick a beta for the pack."

As expected, they were all shocked. For outsiders, it's already abnormal to recruit new warriors to the

pack, much less if you're planning to choose a beta among the newcomers. They still don't know, but novelbin

the reason why i decided to do all of this was that we were in need of power.

We were in need of a people who knows the outside world very well.

Being isolated and neutral in the werewolf community for decades had its disadvantages. Resources

became limited, strength declined, and we lacked knowledge about the others that frontline borders

were the top priority.

I can't blame our ancestors, though, since our pureblood werewolf bloodline goes way back to the very

first Alpha King. It was understandable how other packs tried to eliminate us countless of times.

"All of you must be stunned by this news, but it is in fact, real. It may sound absurd but we have our

own reasons. I want to tell you the gist of the story but since our little viper wants to make it short," And

i looked at her, "Then i'd be glad to announce the beta among you."

I noticed how the others stiffened while some of them wore excitement on their faces. It's unfortunate

how quick the decision was since i initially wanted them to fight things out. But because of some

problem that arose, i'd have to pick her to calm myself down.

It's bothering me that she already stayed with three guys for a whole month. And the fact that she's still

suspicious, making her beta would be the perfect choice.

I stopped marching back and fort and stopped in front of her. Everyone gasped as they anticipated the

words that'll come out of my mouth. Yet Venus looked unbothered and emotionless the whole time.

"Venus." I called. "I pick you. Pack your things and move out by midnight."

*VENUS's POV*

"Don't ever think that being a beta makes you higher than any of us!" Noah says as he dug his pointer

finger to my shoulder.

We just got back to our headquarters, and as soon as the door closed, he managed to corner me to a

wall. And of course, everyone was trying to stop him except Liam.

I'm not really bothered, nor i care about Noah. But since i became beta and captain of our squad. I

knew it'll be much easier if i could tame his arrogant attitude for once.

Not batting an eye, i quickly twister his finger and his whole body followed. He whimpers in pain due to

his broken finger. I kneeled to his level. "It does, in fact makes me superior than any of you Noah. I

don't want to bother with the likes of you, but if you keep going with this arrogant attitude, i'll make sure

to make your life a living hell. Got that?"

"Fuck you.." He curses under his breath.

I smiled. Everyone was stunned with what happened so i took that time to pack my things and finally

leave the noisy place once and for all.

Alpha Derek said to move out by midnight but i didn't have that much patience. It was still around 8pm.

Pack civilians were still walking around as I strolled across the pack. When Alpha Derek's place came

into view, I didn't hesitate and knocked hard on the wooden door.

He was taking so long that i deliberately made it louder. After a short while, Alpha Derek angrily opens

the door.

"Venus! i told you to move by midnight. Are you even aware what time is it?" He says in a frustrated

tone, his bare chest visible in my view. That's when i realized that he just got out of the shower.

I locked eyes with his eight-pack abs. "Well, it's too noisy on our headquarters after you just picked me

out of nowhere as your beta, and as you can see. I'm a bit excited to sleep alone."

Woah.. he must be big down there-

"Are you seriously checking me out right now?"

I snapped out of my fantasies and coughed. "I'm just amazed at your physique, that's all. And even if i

was checking you out, what's the problem?"

He sighs, "I don't know if you're just clueless or trying to mess with me."

Either way, he didn't complain any further and let me in. At first i was confused why we were headed in

the opposite direction from his office. When we stopped at a familiar corner of the house, my eyes

widened.

Wait.. isn't this his room?

"Wait.. i'm going to live here? with you?" I asked.

"Yeah, All betas do." He rolls his eyes. He opens the door to his room and i followed, not until he stops

midway that my face collided in his strong back.

"What are you doing?" He asks, confused.

"What? You said i'd live here with you. Why are you stopping anyway?"

He squints his eyes for a moment before signaling to the room beside this door. There weren't any

doors at this side of the building, only two. So i could immediately guess what he was talking about.

"Why didn't you say so in the first place? Though it's quite a bummer that i can't share a room with you-

"

He closes the door to his bedroom shut.

"Ah.. such a killjoy."
