The CEO Gets What He Wants

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Both cars drove back to the hotel they were staying in from Majestic Hotel.

When both Avery and Cecelia got out of the car, they saw Xavier waiting at the entrance, clad in a freshly pressed suit.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Dartsley,” Avery greeted Xavier when they walked past him, just like everyone else.

Xavier gave her a curt nod in acknowledgment, but his gaze changed abruptly. novelbin

His brows were furrowed as he glanced at Avery, who had walked into the lobby.

After getting off his car, Cayden immediately realized something was off with Xavier.

He shot Xavier a sharp look, and the latter immediately turned around to gaze at his employer.

Cayden strode into the hotel swiftly and commented icily, “You were staring at her.”

His words were meant for Xavier's ears.

Xavier seemed to be contemplating whether he should reveal his thoughts out loud. In the end, he decided to keep it to himself. “I wasn't staring at her,” came his answer.

He's trying to cover up something!

Cayden's expression turned as dark as thunder.

Right then, Zayne got out of a taxi and entered the hotel with his briefcase. He halted in surprise at the sight of Cayden and Xavier standing before the elevator. Without a choice, he stepped forward and greeted them, “Mr. Dartsley, Mr. Moore.”

Cayden gave him the once-over.

“My name is Zayne Richter, and I've just started working in the design department,” Zayne introduced himself briefly. “I'll head upstairs now. Have a nice day, Mr. Moore!”

Cayden said nothing, but he was unapproachable, as though there was an icy aura about him.

Back in his room, Cayden removed his cufflinks and glanced at the kids sleeping soundly in bed.

He went to the wine cabinet in his suite and uncorked a bottle of wine.

After pouring himself a glass of wine, he chugged it down. The cooling liquid flowed down his throat smoothly.

Shortly after, the kids woke up.

Zachary was the first to wake up. After washing up, he trotted back into the room to find a fluffy dress for his sister.

“Zach, what's wrong with Daddy?” Rory asked softly.

Zachary shook his head silently, for he had no idea what had happened. However, he knew that children should stay out of adult matters.

Downstairs, Zayne tossed his briefcase aside and gave Avery a hug.

“What's wrong?” Avery froze awkwardly in his arms.

They had been dating officially for a year but rarely got intimate with one another.

Avery was uncomfortable with intimacy, and Zayne respected her decision. Thus, he never crossed the line.

Zayne was acting odd that day.

“Nothing. I've missed you. I just feel like hugging you,” Zayne responded in exhaustion.

Avery said nothing.

That night, they had dinner together.

Zayne wanted to go shopping so he could buy a change of outfit. This business trip was too urgent for him to pack up beforehand.

By the time they finished buying the stuff he had needed and returned to the hotel, it was already past nine at night.

“I'd like a room.” Zayne handed his ID card to the receptionist.

Avery waited aside and recalled how the receptionist told her there was no empty room available.

The receptionist checked the system and looked up. “I'm sorry, sir. There are no empty rooms for now.”

Zayne frowned and pondered over it briefly. He then glanced at Avery, who was standing beside him.

They took the elevator upstairs.

As they walked back to Avery's room, Zayne suggested, “Why don't I spend the night in your room? You can sleep on the bed, and I'll sleep on the couch.”

Avery was surprised.

“I'm your boyfriend, Ery. We've known each other for five years. Don't you trust me?” Zayne gave her a disappointed and sorrowful look.

At once, guilt filled Avery's heart.

For the past five years, Zayne took care of her meticulously. Even though he wanted to court her, he didn't do so just to have sex with her like other men.

Zayne had always been a gentleman.

Afraid of hurting his feelings, Avery relented. “All right. You can sleep on the couch.”

At the same time, Cayden and his kids were in the dining room in his suite.

Rory was munching on a piece of fried chicken. Tears still hung on her eyelashes, so it was pretty obvious she had to resort to tears to get the food she wanted.

Xavier was confused as his employer suddenly summoned him.

“Does the newbie from the design department has somewhere to stay?” Cayden asked, his voice devoid of any emotions.

Xavier had no idea why Cayden would suddenly show concern for a newbie, but he replied honestly, “This hotel is full, and he didn't go elsewhere. I think he's going to spend the night in his girlfriend's room.”

After saying that, Xavier noticed Cayden seemed displeased.

Despite priding himself on being an observant person, Xavier often couldn't fathom Cayden's feelings.

This time, he immediately understood Cayden's thoughts.

I think I should reconsider about Avery.

After finishing her fried chicken, Rory pouted unhappily.

“I don't want to be with Bad Daddy!”

Zachary told her, “Rory, don't be willful.”

“Bad Daddy, Bad Daddy, Bad Daddy. Bad Zach, Bad Zach, Bad Zach...” Rory wailed.

Xavier didn't expose Cayden and instead said, “Rory, why don't I bring you to the lady from yesterday?”

Without a word, Rory slipped down from her chair earnestly. Clearly, she wanted Xavier to bring her to Avery.

Xavier glanced at Cayden. The latter said nothing or expressed his disapproval, so Xavier led Rory out of the suite to hand her into Avery's hands.

The elevator went down.

Before Xavier could reach Avery's floor, his phone rang.

“Mr. Moore,” Xavier answered the call from Cayden in surprise.

After the call was cut, Xavier frowned. He had no choice but to carry out his employer's order.

It was midnight when Cecelia complained to Avery, “My sixth sense tells me Mr. Saunders' daughter is nothing but trouble. She brought bad luck to us on the day she showed up! Why did Mr. Moore fly into a rage and order us to go back to Ackleton at night? Ugh, he's not just being cruel; he must've gone nuts! He spent the money to reserve the hotel rooms but refused to let us spend the night in our rooms! Does it make him happy to see us traveling back at night?”

Avery was exhausted, too.

She couldn't understand what Cayden was getting at.

Zayne sat in the passenger seat, and Trevor was driving the car.

It was late at night.

Cayden stood on the balcony of his suite in the hotel and lit a cigarette slowly. His brows scrunched up as he puffed out some smoke and revealed his true feelings.

Those who had come across him in the corporate world knew that he didn't have a weak spot.

After finishing a few glasses of wine in his room, he got slightly tipsy.

At the thought of her soft moans from five years ago and how hard she struggled against him last night, he flashed a self-deprecating smile as his expression turned wintry. Lowering his head, he stubbed his cigarette out in the ashtray.

The next morning, Xavier and Cayden headed to Hallsbay International Airport.

Cayden's expression remained as grim as ever.

Behind him, Xavier couldn't help but think, Mr. Moore, even if you stopped them from sharing a room in Hallsbay Hotel, you can't stop them from living under the same roof back in Ackleton! You're not related to her but want to interfere in her affairs.
