The Devil Wore A Brown Suit

Chapter 35: Part Two Queen Of Hell

Chapter 35: Part Two Queen Of Hell

How was he holding up? All Angie could think of was how strong he has to be. There is no way he

could just hold all this in. Not only is he caring for his ex-wife and her two newborns, but he has to hunt

down the daughter of Lucifer and get her to come back to the side of the descendants.

She was so infatuated with him. He was a sexy beast of a man. Maria knew she needed to make an

exit. She knew Angie would want time with him alone. Angie would want to try again. Angie was in love

with Sam. Their time in New Orleans was epic, to say the least about it. She thought he felt the same

way too.

In the end, Sam had to put distance between everything that had happened to him in New Orleans and

his life. He could not get past losing his children. Now playing in his mind as he drank whiskey in the

Devils Café with his old life, all he could think was what Bee meant by maybe we can make it

right. What had happened to them? Where were they?

Tiffany and Mayhem made their way to The Devils Café at the end of the night. Maria was no longer

with Sam and Angie. Mayhem and Tiffany walked to the back to play the old Juke. There they saw Sam

and Angie.

“Maybe we should find something else to do and let them be,” Tiffany suggested. Mayhem agreed.

The two found a table in the café and waved Bob over. “What’s up, guys?” Bob asked.

“How long have they been out there?” Tiffany asked. Bob thought it over for a second.

“A while, guys. I am not really sure. Maria left and went back to Bees’ place. She said to let them be

alone.” Bob answered.

“Thanks.” Mayhem said.

“Maybe we should go talk to Maria and Bee. I have no idea what we are going to do about Perdition. I novelbin

am sure Bee has a plan.” Mayhem says.

“Maybe you should’ve told her the truth from the beginning. A woman hates to be lied to Mr. Mayhem.

You pissed her off.” Tiffany says.

“Hey. This is not all my fault.” Mayhem responds.

“Not all your fault, but some of it is,” Tiffany says.

“Any word on your babies?” Tiffany asks.

“All we know is that they are here. That’s something.” Mayhem responds.

“Can I ask how you got involved with the princess of hell?” Tiffany asks.

“It’s complicated, and it’s over. It never was a thing. We were both trapped in the void. We were drawn

to one another until Chaos. Chaos was smitten with her before we knew who she was. It enraged him

when he found out she was the daughter of the king of hell. He wants that power.” Mayhem says.

“Looks like he is on track to get it,” Tiffany says.

“You don’t understand. Chaos and Ryan are not good people. Sunnie is not good people either. They

will burn topside to the ground.” Mayhem says.

“Well, this topic is depressing,” Tiffany says.

“You brought it up,” Mayhem says and shoots a big smile at her.

“Since we are on this topic, do you know the actual story with Camilla Dawn and Sam?” Tiffany asks.

Mayhem knew, and he wasn’t sure if he should get into all that with Tiffany. Tiffany had worked

for Sam for a long time. He couldn’t believe she did not know what almost everyone else already knew.

“Look, I have heard a lot of rumors working with Sam. When Camilla Dawn showed up with Perdition,

it was strange. He was overly kind to her, but he still kept his distance. I just wanted to know if the

rumors were true. I mean, I am here risking my life. At least tell me if I am in real danger.” Tiffany says.

Mayhem ran his hand through his hair and blew out a deep breath. “Look, it’s complicated. The

short story is Camilla started researching the descendants. She wanted to know everything about this

power they had. Sam came into his power and he keeps it in check. Sam is a kitchen witch, a

mixologist, he is a good guy. Camilla Dawn had this power. It was crazy. She could move things with

her mind, She could hear your inner thoughts. She could implant thoughts into your brain. She is from a

powerful line of watchers. She wanted to know more about it. Which led her to a watcher. That watcher

destroyed her. Camilla Dawn gave the watcher her twins for more power. She was not in her right mind.

We all know that. We all knew sweet humble high strung Camilla. The new Camilla was, Well, she was

frightening.” Mayhem said.

Tiffany sat there staring at him. She did not know what to say. She had heard the rumors. She heard

that Camilla Dawn had murdered her children for one. She had heard she gave them away. But this

was worse than she imagined.

Mayhem had not told her everything. He didn’t feel it was his place. The watchers and Venus building

an army of children born to descendants. That was too much to tell just yet. He would tell Tiffany more;

he had learned not to hide things anymore. Today would not be that day. It was too soon to revisit all

the memories.

Mayhem knew those memories were about to bite all of them in the ass. He wasn’t sure if they were

prepared for what is coming. Rescuing Camilla Dawn seemed to go too easy. Damnation was

obviously occupied with something much bigger.

What could go on that he would let Camilla Dawn and Key get away from him so easily, and Brooke?

He had just let Brooke walk away. Something was not right with all of this.

“Let’s get out of here,” Mayhem says. Tiffany agrees with him. The two leave Bob a tip on the table

and leave the Devils Café. The step out onto the street, the jazz is roaring from the streets. “I have

missed New Orleans,” Mayhem says.

“How long were you here?” She asks.

“Not long enough. When this is over, I think I will come back to stay.” Mayhem says. “I miss this place

and this bar.”

“It seems like a cool place. Are we going back to Bee’s or do you want to dance in the street with me?”

Tiffany asks him. Mayhem smiles at her.

“We can dance my lady.” He says.

The two walk toward the sound of the music. Mayhem wanted to put everything behind him, even if just

for one more night. He knew he had things to do, but this one moment he could just be home in New

Orleans with a beautiful woman dancing in the street while listening to street musicians playing jazz.

For this moment he could feel like himself.

Sam and Angie made their way from the back of the Devils Café. He wanted to get back to Bees. He

needed to check on Camilla Dawn and Key. He knew there was nothing he could say to Angie tonight

to reassure her he was going to be okay. Sam knew he did not need to be with Camilla Dawn anymore.

He knew the feelings would always be there, but the hurt would never leave. He still loved her, but he

also hated her. He wanted to remain her friend. He tried.

The night she showed up after she left the void. She was vibrant. She was hell-bent on making

everything right. It was hard for him to look at her and not see their babies. It was hard for him to

remember everything. He knew she was not herself, but what kind of mother could do such a thing.

Now his biggest fear was what will she do with these twins? Will she give them to the watcher?
