Chapter 9: The child was lost

Outside the operating room.Zac's hand was trembling as he combed it through his hair. novelbin

"Nothing must happen to her.Oh God, please keep Sophie and our child safe!’ Zac prayed solemnly.

‘As long as they are safe, I am willing to pay any price’

It was at this moment that Zac had suddenly realized that Sophie had occupied a huge part of his heart, and before he knew it, she became important to him.

He regretted how late he had noticed his feelings for her.

There was nothing he can do to compensate her for all the times he had hurt and abandoned her.

Sophie would surely leave him now.

"You wanted to wipe us out of your life, then I'm granting you your wish."

Sophie's last words echoed in his mind and he felt as if a knife stuck his heart which made him breathe in pain.

Just then, the doctor came out of the operating room.

"Are you the patient's family? I have to be very honest with you, she is in a very critical condition right now.”

The patient received a severe rib fracture and it had almost punctured her lungs.

She also have a ruptured her pelvic and several other wounds.

But that's the least of our concern.

Her head received the worse trauma from the impact and that resulted to a large amount of blood stasis in her left cranial cavity.

We need her family to sign a notice of critical illness.

Zac almost collapsed to the floor after he heard the news from the doctor.

He then asked, "What do you mean by critical condition?! How is she, how's my wife? My child, how is he? Is he okay?"

"I'm sorry to inform you but we had already lost the child. We've tried to save them both but due to excessive bleeding, we had no choice but to prioritize your wife.I'm sorry but we've done our best and the rest is up to the patient's will if she'll survive or not.We can only ask your family to prepare for the worst."

"Fuck! Prepare for what! You must save her, no matter what! Save her!"

Zac roared like an angry lion.

He couldn't accept what he heard from the doctor.

Nothing could have prepared him from losing the woman he just recently realized he loved.

He prayed she'll get through this and he'll accept anything that she'll do to him.

As long as she lived, he'll accept anything.

The doctor frowned.

"Are you related to the patient? If you can't sign the notice for her, find another relative.Every minute of delay will decrease the chances of survival of the patient!"

The doctor's word woke Zac's dazed mind as if he was doused with cold water.

The doctor handed him the notice and a pen.

His hands trembled as he signed the notice.

"You can't sign that notice!"

Just then, he suddenly heard a sharp female voice from the other end of the corridor.

It was Edith.

Zac suppressed his anger and and ignored her.

He took a deep breath and quickly signed the notice.

Edith ran over in disbelief: "Zac, you have already divorced her.You have nothing to do with her now.You can't sign this thing!"

The doctor was surprised.

"You are not her husband? Then call her immediate family, quickly!"

"I am her husband! And I will always be her husband!"

Zac said firmly.

The doctor was suspicious and wanted to retort, but he swallowed his words when he saw the cold light in Zac's eyes.

After he received the signed notice, the doctor went back to the operating room.

"Zac, how could you do this to me! You are no longer her husband, you are my fiancé.Do you still remember? I'm the one who you should've married in the first place" Edith roared angrily.

Zac grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against the wall.

She couldn't get another word out as it was all stuck in her throat.

Her feet were dangling above the ground and her face was quickly turning red.

Zac was choking her and she could hardly breath.

"You did it, didn't you! Edith, how dare you harm my wife and child? Do you want to die?"

His eyes had gone almost red as all the pent-up rage suddenly burst.

He looked at her as if he wanted to tear her apart.

Edith had never seen this kind of anger and madness in Zac's face.

He had always been gentle and considerate towards her.

Whether it was three years ago or after they had reunited, she had never seen such a terrible side of him.

Edith was scared silly and she almost peed her pants.

"Zac, Let go of me! It's me, Edith! Your one and only love!"

"You hurt her!"

He had lost all reason and he couldn't control himself anymore.

All he could think about was how he wanted to strangle Edith to death.

"I didn't!"

Edith shook her head wildly! Zac had already known what was happening as soon as he went to find Sophie.

Edith and her mother had set up a plan to harm Sophie and their child.

He immediately rushed over to save Sophie but he did not expect that his appearance would put Sophie's life on the line.

He hated Edith, hated everything that's happening, but most of all, he hated himself.

Edith was about to lose breath when the Williams couple finally arrived.

"Stop it! Mr.Madden, what were you thinking?!"

Robert grabbed Zac's hand in panic.

He wanted to save his precious daughter.

Zac loosened his grip and Edith fell to the ground.

She then burst into tears as fear engulfed her.

Zac looked coldly at the three Williams and threatened.

"You'd better pray that she'll be fine.Otherwise, I'll bury you with her!”
