The Invincible Arthur Gardner

Chapter 100 - The Perfect Candidate

Chapter 100 - The Perfect Candidate

"Hi, I apologize for making you wait," Arthur said as he approached Sylvia, whose face had grown

flushed. He furrowed his brows in concern and wondered, "Is she feeling ill?"

"Ah, no, Mr. Gardner," Sylvia replied, her voice suddenly faltering as she struggled to find her words.

She averted her gaze, avoiding Arthur's eyes.

Sylvia felt her nerves grow as she realized she would have to confront Arthur directly; for some reason,

this was an unfamiliar situation for her. Yet, Arthur's charm and charisma completely threw her off

balance and left her at a loss for what to do.

At that moment, Arthur felt something strange emanating from Sylvia, so he tilted his head to get a

better look at her slightly blushing face. "Excuse me, Ms. Sylvia," he asked, his voice gentle and caring.

"Are you feeling unwell?"

Sylvia was taken aback by Arthur's action, stepping back slightly as a flush crept onto her face. "Ah…

uh…. Erm… No, Mr. Gardner," she replied, her voice wavering slightly. "I'm fine."

"Alright, let's talk about the business we'll be doing in the future," Arthur said, gesturing towards the

center of the room where a sofa was situated. He then walked over and sat down on the sofa. In front

of them was a big screen and a laptop, which Arthur had set up to present more details of her business

plan.

Sylvia walked over and stood up as a screen nearby started displaying some of the presentations she

had prepared.

"Actually," he said, "I had been considering a plan that was almost identical to yours, Ms. Sylvia.

However, I was unsure of how to do it, so I was elated when I stumbled upon you, who had the exact

same vision as me."

Sylvia fell silent, her gaze lingering on Arthur as she was taken aback by his charisma. She gave a

slow nod, "Thank you, Mr. Gardner. I hope you won't be disappointed with what I'm about to present."

"And," she continued, her voice gentle, "Please just call me by my name, Sylvia. I'm currently working

for you, after all."

"Of course, Sylvia," Arthur replied with a smile.

After that, Sylvia began to explain her business plans in detail, occasionally glancing at Arthur, who

seemed to be listening attentively. “Erm… is there anything you'd like to ask before I continue, Mr.

Gardner?"

"No, I'm following along well so far. I'll save my questions until the end, and if I think I need to ask

something urgently, I'll ask right away."

After that, Sylvia continued to explain the contents of her presentation in great detail, until a few

minutes later.

Arthur, listening intently, was surprised to discover that she had actually planned it out so carefully.

However, there was one big problem they were currently facing: Arthur had to acquire a large portion of

land on Golden Lake Island in order to build their grand plans there. "That will be a challenge," he said.

"Mr. Gardner," Sylvia began, taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, "I'm sorry, I knew my plan was

unfeasible from the start. To put all of the building designs I had created into practice, I realized we

would have to acquire Golden Lake Island first, and I knew this would be a very difficult task. Therefore,

I leave all these decisions to you. And even if you choose to back out from this project, I am still

grateful for the opportunity you have granted me to explain my entire business plan. Your generosity

alone has made me so happy and excited to create more in the future."

Sylvia glanced at Arthur, taking in his relaxed and calm demeanor which had done much to put her at

ease during her presentation.

"No," Arthur replied firmly. "We will fight for this plan, and as for Golden Lake Island, we will find a way

to get it."

Sylvia raised her eyebrows in surprise, recognizing the difficulty of acquiring such a large, contested

piece of land. She knew it would take a lot of money, or perhaps a cooperative arrangement to share

ownership.

"And, you don't have to worry about it, Sylvia," Arthur said, offering her a light smile. "We're going to

win the island completely, and I'm confident that we'll do it in the near future."

Sylvia was still in shock at Arthur's words. He seemed to have an unlimited amount of money and she

could no longer doubt that it was true.

"While we await the acquisition of the island," Arthur said, "I would like to ask a favor of you."

"Yes Mr. Gardner, I would be more than happy to help in any way I can."

Arthur nodded affirmatively. "For the past few weeks, I've been running Brown Company as CEO, and I

feel I could use some help to lighten my workload. That's why I'm offering you the position of COO to

help me implement some of the plans I've already put in place."

"Mr. Gardner," she asked hesitantly, "are you sure about this offer?"

Sylvia still felt like she was dreaming; the events of the past few days were beyond anything she had

ever imagined - especially being offered the role of Chief Operating Officer at the prestigious Brown

Company. Most people would be proud just to work there.

"Sure," Arthur replied, "if you don't mind doing it."

"But, Mr. Gardner," Sylvia answered hesitantly, "I've never run a company this size before, and I need novelbin

time to learn. I'm afraid I won't be able to meet your expectations."

Arthur then stood up and walked over to Sylvia, “You have a great deal of talent, and you are also a

very hard worker. Furthermore, we will be utilizing a great deal of resources from the Brown Company

in order to implement your entire business plan on Golden Lake Island, so it would be beneficial for you

to take on the role of COO in order to ensure that all of the plans run smoothly.”

Sylvia was still silent in response to Arthur's explanation, slowly shaking her head in disbelief. It wasn't

that she was refusing, but she hadn't expected that Arthur would show her such faith and trust.

"You're really coming into your own now, and I'm sure that being COO won't be a problem for you," he

concluded.

Sylvia then lowered her head, her heart suddenly bursting with joy and tears streaming down her

cheeks. She attempted to conceal her dampened face as she looked up at Arthur, “You’ve placed so

much trust in me, even though you barely know me.”

"Sylvia, I understand where you're coming from," Arthur attempted to reassure her, "Your background

speaks for itself, and your talent and determination are remarkable. It would be my loss if I were to miss

someone as valuable as you." His gaze held a sincerity that seemed to suggest he meant every word.

At that moment, Sylvia's emotions got the best of her; despite being a strong, independent woman who

had accomplished so much on her own, this was the first time she had met someone who truly

appreciated her. She felt that she would do anything for Arthur, someone who had finally understood

her. Tears welled up in her eyes and she could no longer contain her sobbing.

"I don't know how to thank you again, Mr. Gardner," Sylvia said, raising her face slightly and glancing at

Arthur. "This thing you gave me is beyond what I could even imagine."

"That's fine," Arthur replied slowly, smiling. "We work together in business, and I hired you for the

potential and brilliant ideas you have. So as long as you can keep doing what you've been doing so far,

that's enough for me." He then offered a handshake. "Do we have a deal?"

"Yes, Mr. Gardner," Sylvia said, smiling and accepting Arthur's handshake, "I am more than willing to

take on this assignment. I promise to give it my all and do whatever it takes to make you proud of your

decision to have chosen me for this task."

"Alright," Arthur smiled, pleased with his decision to find Sylvia – a talented, creative and hardworking

individual – to help him run his business in the future.

He motioned for her to follow and said, "I hope you are ready for the many big things that we will face

in the future. Now come with me, I will announce this news to all Brown Company employees."

Sylvia nodded slowly and followed Arthur, her face beaming with joy. She couldn't believe that all the

hard work she had put in was finally paying off.

"Thank you so much Mr. Arthur Gardner."
