Chapter 21 – Feeling Happy
LAURA
I am walking down the hall from my room, thinking about yesterday I had been so nervous about going
downstairs for dinner. Would she tell Mack, or did he already know as Rosa had? Did the pack know?
Eventually, Liam calmed me down enough to be able to go down for dinner.
The dinner had been awkward after Rosa let us know, that she knew about Liam and me. But after 1
helped her clean up, she surprised me by grabbing me and pulling me into a warm hug, and telling me,
thank you for making her son happy. It had made me tear up and she had held me, telling me I also
deserve happiness and love.
I find Rosa sitting by the dining table with a bunch of papers. She looks up when I step inside and
smiles a t me, before looking at the papers again.
“Is it the plans for the Lunar eclipse?” I ask her
“Yes. I am trying to think of what sort of lights, we need when it gets dark.”
‘What are your options?”
“Anything really.”
“Then not use lanterns, smaller ones on tables and some big ones around where we will all gather. And
fairy light hanging. It would bring enough light without making it too bright, and the pups with be
scared.” Rosa seems to be thinking about it.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t try to mess up your plans.” I look down.
“Sweetheart you are not messing anything up, and I love the idea.”
“Really?”
“Oh yes, food is planned, table setups moonflowers are ordered, and now the lightning is done too. And
it’s all ready. What have you thought about whit the kids?”
“Well, I was thinking that for the smaller ones to get one of the older wolves that won’t be going tell
them ca story. And of course, if the older ones want to hear they can too. But if not maybe use the
fighting gym
for them to have their in a smaller party, with music, snacks, or something.”
“That sounds wonderful Laura. And I know the perfect man to tell the young ones a story.”
“Really? That’s great.” I smile at Rosa and she stands up and hugs me.
“Sit down sweetheart, I will get you a snack.”
“Thank you.”
Rosa comes over with snacks and we sit talking about the upcoming event. I am so distracted I don’t
notice Liam is standing at the door behind me. It is when I begin to wonder why Rosa’s eye keeps
looking at something behind me, and I turn around and see him.
“Liam! How long have you been standing there?”
“Long enough.” He answers with a smile and I shake my head.
He comes over wraps his arms around me and kisses my cheek, I blush.
“Come with me.” He tells me.
“Why? Where?” | ask.
“That’s a secret.” He says smiling, Rosa looks at us with a soft expression on her face.
“We are done here dear, you just go.” I stand up and hug her before following Liam out.
When we get out in the hall he softly takes my hand leading me towards the garden behind the house.
When we get there I see it. He has spread out a big blanket, on the side, there is a basket containing
some pasta salad, strawberries, and warm tea,
“Liam!” I look up at him.
“Thought this would be nice. I don’t want to hide Laura.”
“It’s perfect, I love it.” He takes an extra blanket and wraps it around me and kisses me before helping
me to sit down. He comes to sit behind me pulling me to him so I can feel the heat from his body.
“I know it is getting colder, so I thought a blanket and my heat will keep you warm.” He whispers in my
ear and it sends shivers down my body.
“It’s perfect Liam.” I turn my head and kiss him.
While we eat we talk about the upcoming event, and I tell him how I helped his mom a little. And I see
him
smile at me. He tell me that after the memorial of the dead warriors he had been talking to their mates
or families to make sure they would be okay financially. He also tells me that there has been an
increase in rouge attacks in the last 6 months, on the pack all over. And some packs have been forced
to run from their territory, so they wouldn’t get killed.
“That’s terrible,” I say shocked and he nods his head.
“If only I could figure out why they suddenly get so aggressive. Rouges are naturally more aggressive
than pack wolves, but this seems to only get worse, a lot worse for every day there go.” He says
looking concerned. I shift a little in his arms so I can hug him, as the King it bothers him a great deal
that his people are in danger.
“I know you will find a way to stop it.” He smiles a little.
“Laura please promise me you won’t stray too far from this house and packhouse if you are alone. If novelbin
you need to go somewhere I want someone with you, so you are protected. Please, it would kill me up
you get hurt because of me.” I can see the panic in his beautiful eyes. I know he won’t want to lock me
in or anything. But he is also scared because as it will become common knowledge that he has a
relationship, could become a target, to try to hurt him. 1
“I promise Liam, I promise.” I caress his cheek. He turns his head and kisses me inside my hand.
“Thank you, baby. I will keep you and the pups safe, I promise.”
“I know you will.” After a while, he helps me up and we go inside again. Liam has to work and I am
feeling tired, so I go upt o my room, to take a nap. Laying In my bed I think back on these 4 months and
how happy I am here. I feel like I for the first time have a real family.
‘I love it here Kali.’ I tell her
“Me too, and while they might not be our fated mates, I think we will be happy here with them.’ She tells
m e and I agree with her before I fall asleep.
