On the other side, more people were toasting to William.

At the forefront of the banquet, a small podium was set up for speeches. William was invited up by the

employees to share his success story.

This was an impromptu addition by David.

So, the real show was about to begin!

Evelyn’s lips curled into a mocking smile, but from Henry’s side, she seemed genuinely delighted, with

joy written all over her face.

Did she really feel this happy because that man succeeded?

William had been waiting for an opportunity like this for who knows how long. Taking a deep

breath, he excitedly spoke out the words he had drafted in his mind. By the time he finished,

twenty minutes had passed.

Unable to wait any longer, David went up with some documents.

“Mr. Martinez, you must be thrilled to have acquired this piece of land. Can we settle the final

payment?” David asked politely.

“Final payment?” William’s face, which had reddened from the passionate speech, suddenly turned

pale. “I thought the final payment wasn’t required?”

Moreover, Evelyn was supposed to refund the deposit.

His brain was numbed by alcohol, and he blurted out these words without thinking, instantly

drawing sneers from those who had just played along with him.

“I thought it was some wealthy young master, but it turns out to be a fool who doesn’t understand

business. Dreaming of not paying the final payment? Ridiculous!”

“Please don’t tell me he’s dreaming of acquiring land without actually paying for it. That would

be too absurd.”

The words deeply wounded William.

He clenched his fists, “The final payment is still in the company’s account, and I can’t move it right now.

Could you…”

“Mr. Martinez, it’s clearly stated in the contract: settle the final payment within three hours. If you can’t

do that, you’ll be in breach of contract. Or would you like to negotiate with your company?” David

pointed to the relevant clause in the contract.

Reading the words on the contract, William’s face turned even darker.

Calling The Martinez family right now would only result in scorn and ridicule. He found Evelyn in the

crowd and sent a pleading look.

Evelyn, however, leisurely sipped her red wine as if she hadn’t seen him.

This indifferent attitude made William suddenly clear–headed.

The girl who had never looked at anything whenever he appeared, how could she be so apathetic

when she knew he was in trouble? This, coupled with the incident where Evelyn slapped him and cut

Mia, made William grit his teeth.

This wretched woman, how dare she play him!

“It’s her, and you! You’re in cahoots!” William angrily ran towards Evelyn.

“Sir, do you have somnambulism? If necessary, I can recommend a doctor.” Evelyn sneered, staring

down at him.

William, seeing her like this for the first time, didn’t react in time. Evelyn bent down, and in a voice only

they could hear, she said, “This is the price you and Mia pay for scheming against me, William. And this

is just the beginning.”

William, stiffening his body, was too frightened to even lift his head.

Evelyn, seeing this, revealed a triumphant smile, kicking William like she was kicking trash, quietly

tugged at Henry’s clothes and ran out of the venue.
