Chapter 9 Just a Coincidence

The driver’s voice brought Kieran’s sanity back.

The panic that had just flickered in his mind disappeared without a trace.

Valerie’s indifferent look made Kieran feel depressed and upset at once.

He raised an eyebrow, his face twitching.

Kieran got out of the car and stopped paying attention to Valerie.

“Go to the principal’s office.”

“OK.”

The conversation between the two made the driver feel so awkward.

Smiling, he walked them into the school and returned to the car with a long sigh of relief.

It was the first time that Kieran stayed in the same car as Valerie.

In the past, it was always Zoe who chatted with Kieran in the car. Kieran would smile, take over Zoe’s tablet, and show her the beautiful toys and jewelry.

Then he would memorize all the ones that Zoe had her eye on and then go to the luxury stores to buy them.

The driver was shocked by the rich’s life at first, but now, he was already numb.

He became indifferent.

But today, he was surprised.

At first glance, he thought Valerie was a servant’s child.

But she was indeed the daughter of the Horton family.

The driver looked at their receding backs.

He began to be worried about Valerie.

The two walked to the principal’s office without speaking.

On the way, Valerie almost jogged to keep up with Kieran, and by the time they reached the principal’s office, she could hardly catch her breath.

When Kieran saw her tired face, he scolded her.

“You look terrible! Hurry up and adjust yourself.”

Valerie wanted to give Kieran a black look. She struggled to adjust her breathing.

Kieran knocked on the door.

“Come in.”

Mr. Fisher’s calm and mellow voice came from inside the room.

Kieran opened the door and saw a middle–aged man with gray hair. The man smiled as he watched the siblings enter.

“Mr. Fisher, long time no see.”

Kieran immediately bowed respectfully to the principal.

Valerie, who was following behind, also hurriedly mimicked Kieran’s movements.

Shane Fisher smiled and stood up to greet Kieran and Valerie.

Shane laughed, “Long time no see. The most brilliant student back then has become so successful!”

“It’s all thanks to you.”

After the two finished their courtesy, Shane looked at Valerie behind.

“Is this your sister?”

“Not at all.”

Shane interrupted Kieran.

Shane came to Valerie’s side and sided her up seriously.

“She looks neat and clean. What’s wrong with her clothes?”

Shane patted Valerie on her small shoulder. His warning look made Kieran involuntarily bow his head slightly.

“You’re right, Mr. Fisher. I took her here on my way to work, and now that she’s arrived, I’m relieved to leave her to you.”

Before he left, he pulled Valerie over and got closer to her.

“Keep a low profile at school and don’t disgrace us.

The sudden dodge caused Shane, who was watching from behind, to narrow his eyes.

Kieran stiffened, pursing his lips to restrain his anger. He stood up straight after that warning and politely said goodbye to Shane.

He left without a second thought.

Valerie and Shane were left alone in the office, staring at each other.

Shane crouched down before Valerie and rubbed her head compassionately.

“Welcome to our school. I’ll have your homeroom teacher take you to your classroom later. If you need anything, you can come to me.”

“Thank you, Mr. Fisher.”

Valerie’s eyes were bright and pure.

But they were filled with emotions different from any other children’s.

At a glance, one could tell that she was a sensible child.

But it made people feel sad for her.

Shane rubbed Valerie’s head once more when the door opened.

Valerie’s homeroom teacher appeared.

“Mr. Fisher, I’m here to pick up the child.”

The woman was heavily made up, and her clothes were tight.

The strong scent of her perfume made Valerie quietly hold her breath.

Shane frowned.

“It’s ruled that teachers should set good examples and dress properly, isn’t it? Ms. Mercer, if I find you dressed like this again, I’ll punish you.”

Shane’s criticism made Sophie Mercer stand up straight and rub her hands. She did not dare to look ahead.

A hint of panic was revealed on her face.

Valerie saw a hint of viciousness flash across Sophie’s lowered face.

Valerie’s hands began to chill.

No one around her was easy to get along with. She was not sure if she could have a good time in school.

Sophie turned her eyes to Valerie and looked her up and down seriously.

Sure enough, the dislike in her eyes was obvious.

Sophie thought, “Isn’t this just a bumpkin?

Her designer clothes are outdated. Her skin is lusterless, and her hair is like straws.”

Sophie gritted her teeth fiercely.

At yesterday’s meeting, she was told that there would be a new student soon.

It was past the back–to–school season. To maintain the exquisite environment, the school would not recruit any more students.

But there would be student. This meant the student had a very special background to get Shane to agree.

That was why yesterday Sophie was so enthusiastic. She kicked the leg of Wilson Barton, the dean of students, under the table, signaling this middle–aged man to let this student come to her class.

She wanted to pull the strings.

Wilson, who had a fat belly, felt Sophie touching his calf with her warm and soft foot, and he got apoplectic.

Immediately looking at Sophie, his heart knew, he smiled lewdly and rubbed his leg against Sophie’s to show that he had understood.

Sophie naturally became the new student’s teacher.

So she was dressed so sexily today to repay Wilson.

Sophie couldn’t be more thrilled to get the new student’s information.

Valerie Horton.

She was surnamed Horton.

At this juncture, she was recruited as an exception. Sophie had already decided that Valerie was the child of the Horton family, the top family in Capstead.

Sophie happily came to the principal’s office to pick up her student, only to see this bumpkin in front of her.

She was overwhelmed by disappointment after a night of anticipation.

She thought, “This is not the Horton family’s child at all. It’s just a coincidence!”
